December 2009, This Day In Rock
This Day In Rock
Hello Friends and welcome to this thirsty Thursday edition of This Day In Rock. Lets take that walk down musical memory lane!
On this day in 1966 Elvis Presley Donated over $100,000 to various Charities in Memphis Tennessee.
"Good Vibrations" goes #1 for The Beach Boys in 1966.
On this day in 1966 Otis Redding is killed when The airplane he was aboard crashed.
On this day in 1983 "Say,Say, Say" By Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson goes #1.
And for some amusing news the Associated Press reported in 2008 that the US military used loud music to "create fear, disorient...and prolong capture shock" for prisoners at military detention centers at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Among the songs blasted 24 hours a day were "The Theme From Sesame Street" "Hell's Bells" by AC/DC, "White America" by Eminem,"Born In The USA" by Bruce Springsteen, and "I Love You" from the Barney and Friends children's TV show. Barney is torture for me, but AC/DC? thats not torture!!!!
Well friends that's all for today.Until tomorrow...
Peace!!!
