Hello friends and welcome to this Tuesday edition of This Day In Rock. Monday is past & gone! Now lets make our way thru today! Lets take that walk down musical memory lane!

On this day in 1956 The Guy Mitchell song "Singing The Blues" hits the #1 spot on the charts and stays put for a whole 11 weeks!

In 1958 "The Chipmunk Song" entered the charts on its way to being #1.

In 1961 The beach Boys Release thier very first record/single "Surfin" through a small independent L.A. Label.

On this day in 1963 Frank Sinatra's 19 yr old son Frank Jr was kidnapped at gunpoint from His Lake Tahoe hotel room. His father paid a ransom to the kidnappers for his sons safe return. The money was returned when the abductors were later caught.

On this day in 1968 Crosby, Stills and Nash Forms. Their first album would be released the following year.

In 1977 A riot broke out at a Blondie Concert in Australia when fans were told that Debbie Harry had became to sick to perform.

On this day in 1978 "Babe" was a #1 hit for Styx.



On this day in 1980 The Music world came to a screeching halt when John Lennon was brutally shot and killed By Mark David Chapman outside of Lennon's New York Home.

In 1984 "Out Of Touch" goes #1 for Hall And Oates



On this day in 1984 a Horrible tragedy occurred that changed many peoples world forever. Motley Crue's Vince Neil is involved in a car accident that killed his passenger, Hanoi Rocks drummer Nick "Razzle" Dingley and seriously injures two people in another vehicle. He is arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. In July 1986, he would be sentenced to a 30 day jail term, 5 years probation and $2.6 million in restitution to the victims of the crash, as well as 200 hours of community service.

On this day in 2004 Dick Clark suffers a stroke from which he will recover.
