Rest In Sleaze, Dave Lepard.

January 20th, 2006.

The day that shook the Swedish music scene. All the tabloids read "Rock star found dead", and people were pretty much shaken. Dave Lepard, Crashdiet's singer, had killed himself.

Not everybody is a Crashdiet fan. Actually, Sweden is filled with rockers who just detest them. I'm not a major fan myself. Sure, I do like them, but there are bands I like a whole lot more. Although, I will always have some sort of gratitude towards Crashdiet. They were the first sleaze band to be signed to a major label in a LONG time, and if it hadn't been for them, I don't think many of these new bands would have made it far. Some would, yes, but maybe not now. Maybe not for another 10 years.

January 24th this year. The third annual Rest In Sleaze festival, held in memory of Dave Lepard.

I could probably go on and on about the bands I saw, the rock stars roaming the room, the bar and the shows, displaying all my pics and tell the stories, but here's the thing...

I keep thinking about Baby Jane. How the singer looked up to the sky, and said "This is for you Dave", and then kept looking up at times, with an almost angry look on his face. It might have been just for the show, but it could also have been the fact that he misses Dave and can't understand why he had to go. I don't know, but I know this... I miss Dave too.

Rest In Sleaze, Dave.
