January 2009, Artists
A New Generation Of Rockers
Who says you're too young to rock?
That morning, listening to Lex and Terry on lexandterry.com, I was not expecting what I was fixing to hear come out of my computer speakers. When they announced that the band Crooked X was going to be playing live in just a few minutes, I thought cool, a new band I can check out. Then they said something that REALLY caught my attention. That the oldest member of this band was only 15. Now, if you listen to Lex and Terry, and have heard their music meeting, you know they have a very high standard when it comes to music. So, I refilled my coffee, and waited for them to get the band set up to play live on the air.
Crooked X is a hard rock band out of Coweta, Oklahoma featuring: Forest French on lead vocals and guitar, Jesse Cooper, lead guitar and backing vocals, Josh McDowell on bass and Boomer Simpson on drums. And if you were to listen to them without knowing anything about them, I can assure you that you would have no idea that the band was made up of teenagers. Teenagers that in my opinion can out rock bands with members twice their age. Not only do they have some of their songs featured on the video game Rock Band with Nightmare, Rock and Roll Dream, and Gone, they have opened shows for the legendary band Kiss.
They will also be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel on January 15th and attending NAMM, appearing on the Fender Stage, on January 16th in Los Angeles.
With their first EP already available for download on iTunes, be on the lookout for their self titled album that is set to be released on January 27th, which features the songs:
Gone
Adrenaline
Time is Now
Rock N Roll Dream
Fade
You Gotta Bleed
Nail in the Coffin
Nightmare
Death of Me
Control
Now, going back to the opening of this story. I'm going to treat you to the performance that blew me away when the band performed live on Lex and Terry.
