Hell friends and welcome to this Tuesday edition of This Day In Rock. Now that you have survived Monday the rest should be a breeze!! I would like to wish Ryan our editor a Big Happy Birthady! He is another year older but the big question is ; is he any wiser? ; ) Now lets take that walk down musical memory lane.
On this day in 1958 Elvis Presley gives a press conference before leaving to where he would be stationed in Germany.
in 1965 a band called Great Society which would soon be known as Jefferson Airplane made their firt onstage appearance in North Beach, California.
The supremes Record "I Hear A Symphony" also in 1965.
The Lovin Spoonful aet their first #1 hit and a gold record with "Summer In The City" in 1966.
The Beatles make the cover of TIME magazine with an (in my opinion) unattractive drawing of them.
On thid day in 1974 Sonny Bono's Comedy Revue makes its televison debut but would only last 4 months before getting the ax.
On this day in 1982 The Who start their Farewell tour. It would not actually be their last because 3 years later the would again reunite.
On this day in 1985 The first Farm Aid Concert To benifit the American Family Farmer was held. Started by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young many artists from all genre's of the music spectrum showed up to help and Raised over 7 million dollars. The concert is held annually to this day. This Years concert will be held in St. Louis Missouri on Oct,4,2009. The Following performance was Sammy Hagars first Live Performance as the new lead singer with VanHalen!
