Def Leppard/Poison/Cheap Trick Review for 8-19-09
Def Leppard hits the town with Poison and Special Guests Cheap Trick.
Def Leppard has been on the road the last month and this tour is the 10th most grossing tour according to the last box office numbers. The Tour is including Def Leppard, Poison, and Cheap Trick. Def Leppard is one of the biggest bands to come from the 80's with hits like "Photograph" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me". Poison is a group from the 80's and their popularity has been gained thanks to lead singer Bret Michaels reality show "Rock Of Love", their hits are "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Nuthin' But a Good Time". Cheap Trick is a band from the 70's and are a well established band with hits like "I Want You To Want Me" and "Surrender".
The Show started at 7PM and Cheap Trick Then hit the stage with a recorded intro. It's rare to find a band from that far back like Cheap Trick and they have all their original members in the band so it was really cool to see! Robin Zander was A++ on all the songs they played! They started the set with "Way of The World" an old classic song, then went straight into the fan favorite "I Want You To Want Me". Then from here on out Rick Nielson introduces the band and talks in-between every song. They also played "Sick Man Of Europe" and "These Days" from their latest album "The Latest". They played a short 45 minute set and were off right at 7:45.
1. Way of the World
2. I Want You To Want Me
3. These Days
4. She's Tight
5. Don't BE Cruel
6. Sick Man of Europe
7. Dream Police
8. The Flame
9. Surrender
After a 15 minute set change and it's 8PM Poison hits the stage with their very predictable set. Another band with all their original members and the band was tight. They started their set with "Look What The Cat Dragged In" and Bret sounded really bad so I figured he may just be rusty and will get better through out the night. They then went into "Ride The Wind" and Bret STILL sounded like crap, It was disappointing too because I've seen Poison before and they were one of the best live shows I've seen. He then went into thanking all the "Rock Of Love" fans and saying that there will be a new show on VH1 soon. The set was a greatest hits set and the same set they've been playing for a long time now. The band CC Deville, Bobby Dall, and Rikki Rocket were on fire and did great but Bret was just terrible sounding. They played for an hour and were off at 9PM, I Kinda think that Cheap Trick and Poison should just swap spots on this tour because I think Cheap Trick is the Bigger and Better band.

30 Minute set change and at 9:30 PM the lights go off and a video popped up on the screen with a visual history of Def Leppard and a guitar solo playing with it. The band comes out and started the set with "Rock Rock! (Til You Drop)" from their "Pyromania" album and this came as a surprise to me, they then would go into a fan favorite and a favorite of mine too "Rocket". This band is just amazing live and Joe sounded great along with the band who is always just spectacular. This set list is also just pretty much a greatest hits set but heard some songs I didn't hear the first time and also 1 song from their latest album "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge". Joe Elliot came out and thanks everyone for coming out and then asked if we'd want to join the band for a minute. Then you see Phil, Vivian, and Joe with acoustic guitars and break into an acoustic set. They go into "Two Steps Behind You" and then do most of "Bringin' On The Heartbreak". The Last part of "Bringin On The Heartbreak" went into the electric version and after that the band played the instrumental song "Switch 625". "Switch 625" was awesome to hear live and Is one of the best instrumental songs. Next few songs were the big hits but also great live just because of the crowd singing along. The crowd was loud and also sold out.
