The Rolling Stones 1969-1974 - The Mick Taylor Years

By   Mon, May 24, 2010

The Rolling Stones 1969-1974 - The Mick Taylor Years

Often regarded as the period in which The Rolling Stones recorded the finest music of their career, the years during which Mick Taylor was the fifth Stone remain the band's 'Golden Age'. Notably, on albums Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street the Stones' sound changed as they developed new ideas and were informed by a range of new influences. But crucially it was Taylor's sophisticated blues and jazz licks that gave The Rolling Stones an added dimension between 1969 and 1974 - one they lacked both before and afterwards. This dynamic film tells the behind the scenes story of this hugely productive era for the group.

Featuring interviews with Taylor himself and further contributions from his old boss, John Mayall; author and group colleague, Robert Greenfield; Village Voice music editor, Robert Christgau; Stones session musicians, Al Perkins and Bill Plummer; highly regarded UK music critic, Barney Hoskyns and many others. The program also includes liberal performance footage of The Stones, archive footage and interviews, numerous seldom seen photographs and a host of other features.

Extras include:
- 'Meet Mick' - John Mayall and music historian Alan Clayson tell the Mick Taylor story, prior to his entry into The Rolling Stones.
- Contributor Biographies
- Beyond DVD section

Sevendust, 10 Years, Black Stone Cherry and Aranda Join ShipRocked!

By   Mon, May 24, 2010

Sevendust, 10 Years, Black Stone Cherry and Aranda Join ShipRocked!

Atlanta's own SEVENDUST lead the way, having recently released their infections seventh studio album Hope & Sorrow, which features the hit single "Unraveling." Be sure to catch them this weekend at Rock On The Range, and next weekend at Rocklahoma. Then all summer long, they'll be touring as part of the Carnival Of Madness Tour, with Shinedown, Chevelle, Puddle Of Mudd, and... 10 Years!

10 YEARS hail from Knoxville, Tennessee, and join the ShipRocked lineup just as they are putting the finishing touches on their third album Feeding The Wolves. The highly anticipated project is being helmed by Grammy nominated producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf, Seether). The band will also be on the road as part of the Carnival Of Madness Tour!

BLACK STONE CHERRY might be from Kentucky, but they have toured the world over, delivering their Southern heritage with a mix of heavy, loud guitars, larger than life drumming and lyrical storytelling. Their latest album Folklore and Superstition enlisted famed rock producer Bob Marlette (Ozzy, Shinedown, Quiet Riot), to help meld the traditions of their roots, with some vintage arena rock. Wait until you see these boys play!

Listening to Oklahoma City's
ARANDA is something like hearing an explosive hybrid of the atom bomb and all of Woodstock combined. They are an experience. Brothers Dameon and Gabe are no strangers to sharing the stage with big names in rock: during the past year, they have performed with hit bands such as the All American Rejects, Saliva, Shinedown, Puddle of Mudd, Theory of a Deadman, and Black Stone Cherry.

ShipRocked couldn't be more proud to add these four amazing bands to our lineup for 2010, which of course already includes Cinderella, Vince Neil, Tesla, Drowning Pool, and HAIL! featuring Dave Ellefson of Megadeth, Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, Andreas Kisser of Sepultura, and Tim "Ripper" Owens. Onboard you'll also see The Letter Black featuring Mark "Traa" Daniels from P.O.D., LYNAM, Broken Teeth, Niki Barr Band and Pianotarium! -- Seriously... how kick ass is this lineup?!?!

FUSE TO AIR “GULF AID: CONCERT FOR THE COAST” SATURDAY, MAY 22ND AT 11PM ET / 10PM CT

Fuse, Madison Square Garden’s national music television network, today announced it will air “GULF AID: Concert for the Coast” on Saturday, May 22nd at 11pm ET/10pm CT.  Shot in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, the benefit concert featuring Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Mos Def and more, took place on Sunday May 16th at Mardi Gras World's scenic River City in New Orleans, in response to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill crisis and its impact on coastal communities in the surrounding area.

Airing exclusively on Fuse, the hour-long concert “GULF AID: Concert for the Coast” will feature world-renowned musicians that came together to help raise money to clean up the millions of gallons of oil that has spilled since the April 20th explosion off the coast of Louisiana. Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum recording artist, and part time New Orleans resident Lenny Kravitz, six-time Grammy Award winning John Legend, and artist, actor and activist Mos Def joined Ani DiFranco, Allen Toussaint, The Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band who all share the same concerns about how the recent developments in the Gulf will affect the lives of people in Louisiana and bordering Gulf states.

Available for download via iTunes, Rapper Mos Def and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band recorded "It Ain't My Fault" with Lenny Kravitz and New Orleans' Trombone Shorty. The benefit track is a remake of the New Orleans classic.

To continue to help, donations can be made by texting GULFAID with a space followed by the amount you want to contribute to 27138 (ie; “GULFAID 10” to “27138”), by logging on to www.gulfaid.org or mailed to Gulf Relief Foundation, a 501 C3 non-profit corporation located at P.O. About the band:

PATHOLOGY is no stranger to the current burgeoning underground American
Death Metal movement. Their gore-soaked music and imagery has gained
serious notoriety since drummer Dave Astor (founding member and original
drummer for grind-spazz project THE LOCUST and militant death squad
CATTLE DECAPITATION) founded the group in 2006 amidst the hot confines
of San Diego, CA. PATHOLOGY combines the bowel-shaking vocals of classic
American Death Metal of SUFFOCATION and MORTICIAN, mixed with the
technical prowess of gore grind gods CARCASS and mosh-inducing stomp of
DYING FETUS and SKINLESS.

They released the Surgically Hacked demo (Amputated Vein Records) in the
fall of 2006 and followed it with the brutal full-length Incisions Of
Perverse Debauchery (Grindhead Records) the following year. Some
relentless touring and vocalist changes did not stop this powerhouse,
even as they released another full length, Age Of Onset (Comatose
Records) in the summer of 2009. The PATHOLOGY name began coming up
amongst the staff of Victory Records around this time and the interest
in this band began to grow.

It became clear that Victory needed to partner with this beast and do
what they could to elevate them to the next level. On a cold wintry
night in December of 2009, the label made the hellish union official and
brought Pathology into the Victory family. Now the band has a new record
on the threshold of completion and they are prepared to conquer
everything in their path in 2010. This is not metal for the faint of
heart; this is true death metal that will stop at nothing to obliterate
all that stands in the way. Head this as a warning, PATHOLOGY is
coming...

Thin Lizzy

By   Thu, May 13, 2010

Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy is one of rock music’s most recognizable names. The fiery Dublin band exploded onto the scene with a fresh sound, look and attitude. Lead by the incomparable Phil Lynott, the band reached many peaks and influenced generations of musicians with classic tracks such as “Jailbreak”, “The Boys Are Back In Town”, “Still In Love With You”, “Cold Sweat”, “Emerald” and “Don’t Believe A Word”. Most rock historians would agree the pinnacle of their commercial success was in 1983, followed by the bands’ premature demise, as they played their last gig in September of 1984. Just two years later, the world was shocked when singer/bassist and founding member Phil Lynott passed away at the age of thirty six.

Twenty four years have passed, the world has changed, but the amazing body of work that is Thin Lizzy still retains all of its vibrancy and influence. A new lineup has formed to take Lizzy’s music to a whole new generation of music fans. Led by alumni Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton (all of whom played in Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott) the stellar lineup is completed by Def Leppards Viv Campbell (guitar), Bassist Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Ted Nugent) and The Almighty’s Ricky Warwick on vocals and guitar.

Alongside the new lineup, Universal Music has committed to a series of re-issue, deluxe and special releases of classic Thin Lizzy material over the next 18 months. More details to follow.

Thin Lizzy have confirmed a 2011 UK tour. Full dates are as follows

Thursday 6th January – Aberdeen Music Hall
Friday 7th – Glasgow O2 Academy
Saturday 8th – Newcastle City Hall
Monday 10th – Leeds O2 Academy

Wednesday 12th – Leicester De Montfort Hall
Friday 14th – Wolverhampton Civic Hall
Saturday 15th – Manchester Apollo

DANZIG HITS THE ROAD

By   Thu, May 13, 2010

DANZIG HITS THE ROAD

Glenn Danzig, at the forefront of the hardcore/dark metal movement for nearly three decades, announces a special nine-city concert trek that will kick off in Norfolk, VA on June 15.  The dates, played to usher in the release of Deth Red Sabaoth (evilive/The End Records), Danzig's first new studio album in six years, will feature long-time Danzig cohort, guitarist Tommy Victor (Prong, Ministry), drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative) and former Samhaim bandmate, bassist Steve Zing.  Support for the east coast dates will be Gorgeous Frankenstein, the band of original Misfits member Doyle, and Seventh Void, the band that includes of Danzig/Type O Negative drummer Johnny Kelly and Type O guitarist Kenny Hickey.

A special internet pre-sale has now launched at www.ticketmaster.com and is ongoing through Thursday, May 13.  During this internet pre-sale, fans who purchase a ticket can also purchase a special, limited edition Danzig 7" vinyl single with two brand new songs - "On a Wicked Night," the first single from the new album, and "The Revengeful."  See the itinerary below for on-sale info and where to purchase tickets.

Danzig plans to dig deep into his career-defining catalogue and perform tracks from Danzig, Lucifuge, How the Gods Kill, and on up to the present, including several new songs from Deth Red Sabaoth.  "Danzig fans have their own favorites from throughout the years," said Glenn, "and I hope the set list we put together will satisfy everyone."

Deth Red Sabaoth, which marks Danzig's ninth studio venture that began back in 1988 with the Rick Rubin-produced, Platinum-certified Danzig, is an 11-track collection penned by Danzig, and is laced with Glenn's lycanthropic growls and blues-infected wailing.  Tracks including "Black Candy, "The Revengeful," and "On A Wicked Night," emit a spectral glow to rival the highest points in Danzig's colossal discography.  Part I of the exquisite two-part "Pyre of Souls" opens with acoustic guitar, haunting piano, Glenn's plainsong vocal, and an almost dirge-like feel; Part II explodes with electric guitars and a driving, mesmerizing cadence.

In addition to the upcoming Deth Red Sabaoth, Danzig has just published a book of select, previously unreleased Misfits, Danzig, and Samhaim lyrics, titled "Hidden Lyrics of the Left Hand" (Verotik).  The book features illustrations by Simon Bisley, who has painted numerous album covers for Danzig and collaborated on many Verotik comic titles.

Glenn Danzig has received many titles, from the Godfather of Dark Metal to a punk pioneer to a man of integrity, but most agree that over his near-30-year career, his intense musical and lyrical statements have left a permanent mark on rock music.  He is a gifted songwriter, and his songs have been covered by such diverse artists as Johnny Cash, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, and Roy Orbison, just to name a few.  His "13," originally written for Johny Cash and then recorded for Glenn's own Satan's Child, was the opening song in last year's box office smash and Golden Globe winner, The HangoverDanzig's music is dark, gothic, and haunting, and continues to influence generation after generation of musicians and music fans across the globe.

ALL TIME LOW CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF ITS ‘STRAIGHT TO DVD’ MOVIE

ALL TIME LOW CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF ITS ‘STRAIGHT TO DVD’ MOVIE

Monday night ALL TIME LOW celebrated the release of its ‘Straight To DVD’ home movie (in stores May 25) with a star studded Hollywood movie premiere at the Music Box on Hollywood Blvd.

As fans lined up outside the venue for hours to claim front row seats to the film’s premiere, a who’s who among the band’s friends, including Mark Hoppus, brothers Joel and Benji Madden, Pete Wentz, and Ryan Kelly of Yellowcard, to name a few, came out to show their support.

“One of the most memorable nights of my life,” drummer Rian Dawson said of the evening.

‘Straight To DVD’ follows ALL TIME LOW as the band travels across America with, as the film’s trailer tells it, “one mission, to tell as many d*ck jokes as possible.” A film so massive no movie theater could contain it, ‘Straight To DVD’ is part documentary and part live concert film.

Celebrating the band’s home video release, the evening, sponsored by Hot Topic, also benefited Invisible Children (www.invisiblechildren.com) a global movement seeking to end the conflict in Uganda and stop the abduction of children for use as child soldiers.

Kicking off the night’s festivities, the members of ALL TIME LOW, Alex Gaskarth, Jack Barakat, Rian Dawson, and Zack Merrick, along with Pete Wentz, introduced a short Invisible Children related film before delighting fans, friends and family members with the world premiere of ‘Straight To DVD’ shown in its entirety.

After a fan Q&A with the band, All Time Low’s invited guests made their way to a lively, open bar party atop the roof of the Music Box theater where a sequel to the shenanigans in ‘Straight To DVD’ could have easily been shot.

All Time Low will soon be hitting the road as a co-headliner on The Bamboozle Roadshow (www.thebamboozleroadshow.com) alongside such acts as Boys Like Girls, LMFAO, Third Eye Blind and many more. The tour kicks off May 21 in Columbia, MD (see dates below).

JOHN 5 Releases New Solo Masterpiece

THE ART OF MALICE is John 5’s 5th album to date was released May 11th on 60 Cycle Hum/Rocket Science Ventures.

THE ART OF MALICE exhibits John 5’s incredible diversity as a writer and guitarist pulling from the pages of his life. “It is a completely different vibe than my other albums,” explains John 5. “The title is derived from the saying “kill then with kindness” like taking a good approach to still obtain a dark result.”

The album also further showcases him to be one of the most technically advanced guitarists in the business today. Fans of driving rhythms and ear-catching, over the top, guitar work will keep this in their CD player for months on end. This album has everything that the fans come to expect, chicken pickin, shred, metal and Spanish guitar. The song titles vary as vignettes into John 5’s life, such as the title JW which are John 5’s initials and what his father had called him growing up. Ya Dig comes from working with the master or front-men David Lee Roth and also features Billy Sheehan on bass – “That is Dave’s saying and it fits the music.”

John 5 has created a worldwide following as a widely respected guitarist with such platinum artists as Marilyn Manson, David Lee Roth, and Rob Halford and currently Rob Zombie. John 5 has taken his notoriety to the next level with his solo masterpieces that many guitar fans described as “the guitar playing of the new millennium”. John 5’s eclectic influences combine for a truly unique guitar oriented record that once again sets new standards in the genre.

All profits from the Festival will benefit The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Clapton for chemically dependent persons.

"King of the Blues is a wonderful event that came at pivotal point in my life and career, and having won last year's competition is an absolute honor," said Kelley. "Anyone who has ever picked up the guitar and enjoyed the sound of it is equally blessed. We should all remember that fun is the key. Fun in life, as well as in playing the guitar."

All store, district and regional finalists will win impressive prize packages including top gear from Gibson, Epiphone, Ernie Ball, Egnater and Boss. The guitarist crowned Guitar Center's King of the Blues will receive: $25,000 case; endorsement Deals from Gibson, Ernie Ball, Boss and Egnater; a Feature in Guitar World Magazine; a Gibson 1960 50th Anniversary ES-335; an Epiphone 1965 Elitist Casino, an Egnater Renegade full-stack amplifier, and a Boss GT-10 Guitar Multi-Effects Processor with effects pedals.

Each contestant will be required to give a live guitar solo, performed over one of thirty original backing tracks, developed by Grammy Award-winning producer/guitarist, Pete Anderson (all backing tracks are available for free download at guitarcenter.com/kingoftheblues). One winner from each store will be chosen to move up to district competitions (25 locations), followed by regionally hosted semi-finals (5 locations), which culminate in the aforementioned King of the Blues finals competition on September 2nd. Here, the five finalists will perform in front of a live audience and a panel of celebrity judges, and share the stage with world-renowned guitarist Derek Trucks, leader of the Grammy Award-winning Derek Trucks Band and member of Allman Brothers Band. Trucks' extensive list of accolades and accomplishments includes being tapped by Eric Clapton to join the guitar legend's 2006/07 world tour as a featured soloist and appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone's
"New Guitar Gods" issue, as well as being the youngest musician to make the magazine's "100 Greatest Guitar Players of All Time."

King of the Blues is one of many Guitar Center initiatives created to foster growth and success within the music community, including its annual Drum-Off, On-Stage and Your Next Record undiscovered artist programs. Guitar Center's Drum-Off, now in its 21st year, has been a launching pad for many drummers, including Cora Coleman-Dunham and Tony Royster Jr, two Drum-Off champions who have gone on to become acclaimed professional drummers (Prince and Jay-Z respectively). Guitar Center On-Stage, an unsigned band competition judged by Mötley Crüe, saw the winning band, The Last Vegas, go on to open for Mötley Crüe on tour and subsequently topped iTunes critics' 2009 "Rock Singles of the Year List" with their hit single "I'm Bad." Within The Ruins - Studio Update

By   Thu, May 13, 2010

Within The Ruins - Studio Update

Progressive death metal machine, WITHIN THE RUINS, make their return to
the studio with producer, Josh Wickman (Dreadcore Studios), to record
the follow up album to their 2009 Victory Records debut, Creature. The
album's expected release is slated for late summer and will be titled,
Invade.

About Within The Ruins:

Recognizing the talent and passion of WITHIN THE RUINS, it's no wonder
VICTORY RECORDS has added them to its growing roster. Natives to
Westfield, Massachusetts, this quintet is armed with a unique take on
blending tech and metal together; writing music that set their band
apart from the numerous metal bands today. WITHIN THE RUINS have
mastered their technique of bringing breakdowns, riffs, tempo and a dash
of personality together in order to form one cohesive entity. They
describe their sound as "loud, energetic, interesting and fresh" and
cite bands like Metallica and As I Lay Dying as their early influences.

It would be easy to attribute their unique sound to the countless hours
WITHIN THE RUINS dedicates to practicing each week. In order to perfect
their technical styles, the members practice every day. "You do it long
enough and you're going to see results," noted founding member and
guitarist Joe Cocchi. "We constantly try to take our music to the next
level, challenging ourselves as well as the listener." This mindset
helps WITHIN THE RUINS stay focused as they devote most of their time to
evolving their sound, growing as musicians and building their fan base.

Relentless practicing to hone musical skills is one thing, but WITHIN
THE RUINS also feels that touring makes up another grueling aspect in
their quest for musical recognition. They have already toured with
fellow Victory label mates EMMURE, as well as August Burns Red and
Shadows Fall. Along the way, their fan base has spread from
Massachusetts to states like Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky and New York,
leaving their mark on each one as they pass through. "It's different
everywhere, that's why it's such an experience," Cocchi said. "We just
like to have a good time and talk to people at the shows."

WITHIN THE RUINS is currently preparing for their second release. Be
sure to check out their debut album, Creature, released in 2009.

APOCALYPTICA PREPARE FOR NEW ALBUM WITH U.S. TOUR

By   Tue, May 11, 2010

APOCALYPTICA PREPARE FOR NEW ALBUM WITH U.S. TOUR

When it comes to symphonic metal, no one has a pedigree like Finland cello-based quartet Apocalyptica. And this summer they'll demonstrate their abundant skills and dramatic performance flair during a run of North American shows to support their upcoming seventh album 7th Symphony. The tour launches May 21 in Nashville, Tennessee at the WBUZ Hootenanny and runs through July 17 with a headline show at the Buffalo Town Ballroom.

7th Symphony was produced by Joe Barresi (Coheed and Cambria, Queens of the Stone Age, Bad Religion), and is scheduled for release August 24. The album will feature eight instrumentals plus four tracks with guest vocals including the first single "End Of Me" featuring lead vocals by Bush's Gavin Rossdale. In addition, producer Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Creed, My Chemical Romance) returns for production duties on two tracks on the forthcoming album.

The conservatory-trained musicians of Apocalyptica (three of whom are graduates of the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki) started playing Metallica covers in 1993 and in 1996 they released their critically acclaimed debut Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos. But it was 2007's Worlds Collide that broke the band into an international phenomenon.  The disc featured numerous guest stars. Slipknot's Corey Taylor appeared on "I'm Not Jesus," Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia sang on "S.O.S. (Anything But Love)" Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann performed on a cover of David Bowie and Brian Eno's "Helden" and Three Days Grace Singer Adam Gontier sang his heart out on "I Don't Care." "I Don't Care" blasted Apocalyptica through the stratosphere, and peaked at number one on the Billboard rock chart. Apocalyptica promoted Worlds Collide with a world tour that included numerous stops in North America.

Now, Apocalyptica are coming back to shake the world again. Don't be left in the rubble.

Band “Drowning Pool” Partners with Fourth Annual G.I. Film Festival

Band “Drowning Pool” Partners with Fourth Annual G.I. Film Festival

Drowning Pool, the All American anthemic rock band, announces its partnership with the G.I. Film Festival, a non-profit organization and the only film festival in the nation to honor the successes and sacrifices of American service members through the medium of film.

Drowning Pool will offer a free download of their Top 5 active rock smash “Feel Like I Do” to participants of the G.I. Film Festival. Feel Like I Do is the band's second consecutive Top 5 hit and the first single from their new self-titled album (Drowning Pool, Eleven Seven Music), which was released on April 27th and debuted at #35 on The Billboard 200, #3 on Billboard’s Hard Rock and #5 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums charts in its first week. The band also donated a signed guitar and other items that will be raffled off during the May 11-16 G.I. Film Festival at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, DC.

"We’re honored to offer this track through the GI Film Festival and to our friends in and the supporters of the military, whose strength and perseverance inspire us. In releasing this record, we are extending our thanks to the troops for all that they do for us and are happy that “Feel Like I Do seems to resonate with our friends in the warrior community to unite them after their experiences," said Drowning Pool's Mike Luce.

Said G.I. Film Festival co-founder Brandon Millett: “We’re excited to partner with Drowning Pool. The band’s music and philosophy of giving back to our troops compliment our event.”

Following their first hit with “Bodies” in 2001, Drowning Pool developed a special relationship with the military and their families, eventually visiting and performing for the soldiers in Kuwait and Iraq in 2005 and 2006 respectively. They were also instrumental in the passing of the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform providing better mental health care for our veterans. During a trip to Capitol Hill, they presented then Senator, Barack Obama with a petition which helped to pass the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform, which he sponsored in the Senate and went on to become law supporting the medical rights for our returning warriors. Drowning Pool engaged in a tour of South Korea for MWR (The US Army’s Family & morale, welfare and recreation organization) and, on Memorial Day 2009, they even played Guatanamo Bay.

About the GI Film Festival
The GI Film Festival, May 12-16 in Washington, DC, is the only film festival in the nation to honor the successes and sacrifices of American service members through the medium of film. More than 35 narrative and documentary films will be screened during the five-day event. Visit http://www.gifilmfestival.com/trailers for details, film trailers and ticket sales.

About Drowning Pool
Three albums — 2001’s Sinners, certified platinum within six weeks of its release, 2004’s Desensitized, and 2007’s Full Circle — all charted on the Billboard Top 200 and brought Drowning Pool their share of hits, including “Bodies,” their calling card anthem and tribute to the mosh pit. Eight years later, the song remains a crowd favorite and a reminder of all of their highs and lows.  With over 300 shows over the course of the last two years, Drowning Pool decided to capture that sound permanently with the release of their long-awaited live album, Loudest Common Denominator. In April 2009, the hard working Texas rockers achieved their highest charting single to date with “37 Stitches” reaching #4 on the Mediabase and Billboard Active Rock charts.  The band recently completed almost 3 years of constant touring with Crüe Fest 2 prior to recording their self-titled CD with the production team at House of Loud (Breaking Benjamin, Paramore and more). DROWNING POOL is:  Ryan McCombs-vocals, CJ Pierce-guitar, Stevie Benton-bass and Mike Luce-drums. For more information on Drowning Pool, please visit http://www.drowningpool.com/.

SLAYER'S SEASONS IN THE ABYSS AND MEGADETH'S RUST IN PEACE TO BE CORNERSTONES OF "AMERICAN CARNAGE" LIVE SETS

By   Fri, May 07, 2010

SLAYER'S SEASONS IN THE ABYSS AND MEGADETH'S RUST IN PEACE TO BE CORNERSTONES OF "AMERICAN CARNAGE" LIVE SETS

Megadeth and Slayer, who last toured the U.S. together 19 years ago on the "Clash of the Titans" extravaganza, have confirmed that they will each perform, start to finish, their 1990 releases - Slayer's world-wide, million-selling Seasons In The Abyss and Megadeth's Platinum Rust In Peace - on the upcoming Canadian and American Carnage Tours.  The six-date Canadian Carnage kicks off July 23 in Quebec City, while the 19-city American Carnage dates begin August 11 in Glens Falls, NY (complete itinerary is below).  With Slayer and Megadeth co-headlining, Testament will be Special Guest on all dates.

Tickets purchased for the Canadian and Carnage Carnage shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for the rescheduled dates.  Complete information regarding ticket sales can be found at
http://www.slayer.net/ . www.megadeth.com  . http://www.testamentlegiions.com/

Nineteen hundred and ninety was one stellar year for fans of intense heavy metal, as both
Rust In Peace and Seasons in the Abyss are considered to be among the genre's all-time classics.  "War Ensemble," "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due," "Dead Skin Mask," "Hanger 18," "Seasons In The Abyss" - the preeminent list of metal standards that these two albums spawned has rarely been matched by others.

Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - scored a major breakthrough upon the original release of
Seasons In The Abyss (Slayer's fifth studio album overall), as it was the group' first album to hit the U.S. Top 40, and saw Slayer playing to the biggest crowds of their career sit 91's "Clash of the Titans" tour.

Megadeth's fourth album,
Rust In Peace, saw the band cement their status as one of the most important metal bands with masterpieces like "Hanger 18" and "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due," as well as a top 25 debut on the Billboard charts.  The album has been hailed as one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time with IGN recently naming it one of the most influential metal albums ever.  Megadeth is now rejoined by original bassist Dave Ellefson and are firing on all cylinders.

The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be postponed due to Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya's treatment for severe back pain, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing.  A surgical procedure in January corrected the problem once and for all, and he felt better almost immediately.

"Right after the surgery," said Araya, "I could tell that the issue was fixed.  There's no more pain, it just feels really good.  I'm really excited and I'm anxious to get together with the rest of the guys and start rehearsing again.  We cancelled two tours, and I don't feel great about that, but I couldn't deal with the pain anymore, and that's now completely gone.  I know the fans are excited to see the band - the tour is on, we're keeping our word, there will be no more cancellations."

Jeff Beck Honors Les Paul with Two Intimate Shows at New York’s Iridium Jazz Club
The esteemed Iridium Jazz Club of New York City and Gibson Guitar proudly announce “A Celebration of Les Paul” - two intimate evenings with the legendary guitarist Jeff Beck on June 8 & 9, 2010.

These special shows will honor the late guitar great Les Paul, whose 95th birthday would have been June 9. They will take place in the very venue he played weekly for years, including just days before his death. Beck is honored to pay tribute to his mentor and friend; their relationship having spanned decades. Beck recalls his admiration beginning in the ‘60s, “When I first heard Les Paul playing ‘How High the Moon,’ I thought, man, that’s what I want my sound to be like. Now, here I am years later and he’s still a powerful influence in all that I do.”

The two shows promise to be a treat for fans of both Beck and Paul, with a strong mixture of memorable Les Paul classics, as well as some rockabilly favorites. Beck will be joined on stage by the Irish rockabilly sensation The Imelda May Band.
Beck has collaborated with Imelda May several times in the past, including the track "Lilac Wine" on Beck's new album Emotion & Commotion. The two also performed Paul’s “How High the Moon” live at the 2010 Grammy Awards, after which Beck declared of Paul, “I've often sung his praises to the press, but to actually get to play in tribute to him . . . it’s such a privilege.”

Tickets to the two-night event will be available exclusively through various promotions with radio, retail, print and online media partners. Details will be announced soon.

Les Paul played at The Iridium for over 12 years. The club now presents special Monday evenings dedicated to Paul featuring guitarists from all genres of music, where 20% of the door is donated to The Les Paul Foundation.

Beck’s album, "Emotion & Commotion," his first in seven years, was released on April 13 and has registered the highest debut week in his amazing 45 year career, with over 26,000 sold and rising. His critically praised album has electrified the music establishment, debuting at #11 on the Top 200 Billboard Chart. Beck also received his fifth Grammy award this past February for the track “A Day in the Life” from his platinum certified DVD Jeff Beck Performing This Week…Live at Ronnie Scott’s The current U.S. tour begins again in Boston on June 3, including a stop at this year’s Bonnaroo Festival and an appearance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival to finish the U.S. tour on June 26.

Outside of the Iridium dates, Beck is accompanied on the Emotion & Commotion U.S. tour, by his new touring band, including the Grammy award winning producer and songwriter Narada Michael Walden on drums, Rhonda Smith on bass, and Jason Rebello on keyboards.

TORONTO’S STEREOS LAUNCH U.S. TOUR IN SUPPORT OF SELF-TITLED DEBUT

By   Fri, May 07, 2010

TORONTO’S STEREOS LAUNCH U.S. TOUR IN SUPPORT OF SELF-TITLED DEBUT

Stereos, Canada’s latest and greatest export, is ready to take U.S. audiences by storm. Even before the release of its self-titled debut release on Universal Canada, the band’s first single for the party anthem “Summer Girl” was certified double platinum in digital downloads and debuted at No. 2 on the charts. The full-length release went gold in only three months and is now headed to platinum status. “Summer Girl” will hit radio stateside on June 7th.

An overnight success five years in the making, the band originally formed in Edmonton, Alberta circa 2005 as Stand By Me.

“We had everything written,” singer Pat K. says of the band’s genesis, “from our sound to how we wanted to look down before we even played our first show. We had 20 songs written before we even had members to play them. Unlike other bands, we were determined to compete and be better than the bands we saw on TV or heard on the radio. You can't think on a local level or that's all you'll ever be.”

The band moved to Toronto and rechristened itself Stereos. The quintet (singer Pat K., guitarists Miles and Robb, bassist Daniel and drummer Aaron) has never wavered in it goal to be the best band around.

“I feel just as hungry now as when we were starting; booking our own shows,” notes Pat. “We're set to attack the world and we are in it for the long-haul.”

Pulling from R&B, hip-hop, reggae, rock, metal and punk into its self-described “crunk-rock” sound, Stereos is easily one of the most engaging and diverse bands out right now.

“Almost all genres are influential to the music we make,” the charismatic lead singer points out. “We put all of these different genres together and filter them through a band.”

Teaming up with producer Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace, Billy Talent, Cancer Bats) for its stellar debut, the band is now embarking on a U.S. tour which kicks off May 4th in Santa Ana, CA.

Crafting catchy, up-tempo that you won’t be able to get out of your head, Stereos has managed to attain success very quickly but they've earned it. More importantly, this is only the beginning for Stereos' assault on the world of pop.

“We spent years with absolutely no money, living in the worst possible conditions just so we could get this band off the ground,” Pat offers. “This is what we've always been doing and we're going to continue to do it no matter what anyone says. We love everyone, even the haters. They'll make you work 10 times harder than anybody patting your back will.”

GET YOUR BUZZ ON

By   Fri, May 07, 2010

GET YOUR BUZZ ON

CHICKENFOOT heightens the worldwide buzz from the rock supergroup’s incendiary arrival last year with the Blu-ray and DVD release of CHICKENFOOT: GET YOUR BUZZ ON “LIVE” -- one of the most highly anticipated live rock ’n’ roll concert experiences of 2010. The Blu-ray and DVD, including an hysterically innovative bonus documentary, will be released Tuesday, May 4 by DC3 Music Group, LLC, following a series of virtual concert screenings at select theaters nationwide and a live concert webcast from Cabo San Lucas, set for April 24 (10 p.m. CST) at BestBuy.com.

Filmed with 16 hi-definition cameras over three sold out concerts, CHICKENFOOT: GET YOUR BUZZ ON “LIVE” offers fans an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience four rock ’n’ roll legends -- vocalist Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen, Montrose), bassist Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen), drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani sharing their explosive musicianship and dynamic chemistry on-stage and off.

As fun as they are on stage, CHICKENFOOT is just plain funny offstage. That’s the uniqueness of the offbeat bonus documentary, jam-packed with exclusive, never-before-seen backstage footage, rare interviews and extra performance video. The band members unconventionally take control of the interviews by instead conducting -- or misconducting -- them in their own individual styles. Their prank victims are show biz pals Bob Weir, Adam Carolla and Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel, as well as the unsuspecting public, who get ambushed throughout the documentary man-in-the-street-style by Smith, asking whether they’ve ever heard of the band CHICKENFOOT and can recognize their faces in a publicity photo. You’ll be tickled at most of the answers, knowing the band’s debut album went No. 4 in Billboard and gold all over the world.

Hagar drops in on Weir at home by Hagar, and uncovers the last time the former Grateful Dead lead singer dropped acid and what gets his buzz on these days. Anthony shares backstage couch time, CHICKENFOOT merchandise and chicken wings with Carolla. And Satriani buzzes around venues on both sides of the Atlantic with “Joe-Cam” firmly mounted to his head before allowing Nigel Tufnel (alias Christopher Guest) some not-so-serious interview time.

CHICKENFOOT’s self-titled debut album, released in heat sensitive packaging, has sold over 750,000 copies and has been a Top 10 radio mainstay since its release last June. (The fourth single, My Kinda Girl,” is at classic and mainstream rock radio now). The band embarked on a small North American club tour, performed in Europe in the summer and returned to North America to perform two sold out summer tours, followed by another in the fall.

The electrifying, hi-energy concert performances were filmed in hi-definition last summer by award-winning director Daniel E. Catullo III (Rush, Creed, Godsmack, Smashing Pumpkins) and mixed in DTS 5.1 Surround Sound by Mike Fraser.

The Blu-ray and DVD features one full concert shot at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix on Sept. 23rd, 2009, plus live segments from shows last fall at the Tabernacle in Atlanta and The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, plus a bonus photo gallery.

TAPROOT - FEATURED ARTIST ON ZIPPOENCORE.COM

By   Fri, May 07, 2010

TAPROOT - FEATURED ARTIST ON ZIPPOENCORE.COM

TAPROOT is currently the featured artist on ZippoEncore.com.  You can support the band by visiting the website and voting!  The top, most voted band will receive 50 custom, limited edition Zippo lighters that include the band's logo.  Also, don’t forget to check out the track “Release Me” on the website and off of their upcoming release, Plead The Fifth, due out May 11th.

About Taproot:

From the beginning, TAPROOT has created a smarter, deeper style of post-hardcore and heavy melodic rock. This overture can be credited to the unique combination of personalities in the band; Vocalist - Stephen Richards, Guitarist - Michael DeWolf, Bassist - Phil Lipscomb and newest member, Drummer - Nick Fredell. All four of these men were raised on the preaching of PANTERA, WHITE ZOMBIE and ALICE IN CHAINS, idolizing each band and hoping that one day the rock ‘n roll success train would stop at their station.

As the new millennium approached, the interest in heavier rock and metal grew and their peers began to rely on gimmicks to gain attention and land deals. TAPROOT relied solely on the riff, the groove and the growl that emulated from their skill and performance at colleges, basement shows and even opening slots for touring acts. Inspired by the likes of DEFTONES, HELMET, and TOOL, TAPROOT demonstrated how heavy music can still be emotionally intense, genuine and accessible to the masses. They eventually caught the eye of Atlantic Records and began that road to rock ‘n roll stardom.

Their debut in 2000 was welcomed with open arms and allowed them to become one of the Top Heavy Rock artists of the last decade. All the while, remembering not to compromise their music and style, TAPROOT has sold over 900,000 albums, toured countless times with DISTURBED, CHEVELLE and INCUBUS, and has proved that they are true ambassadors in this ever growing modern metal pantheon. They created heavy rock that fans wanted, and touched a lot of people in times of need.

After tasting the success that the last decade of rock and metal had provided, TAPROOT managed to keep grounded and outlive many of their peers, maintaining their original passion of simply playing heavy and real rock. Call it that Midwestern humility, or the blue collar work ethic that they were conditioned with by native Detroit, TAPROOT has been here, standing proud and are ready to continue this next chapter of their career.

The band is very proud to announce the release of their fifth and most powerful album, Plead The Fifth. Partnered with independent label leaders, Victory Records, TAPROOT is fired up to take over the rock spectrum. Plead The Fifth combines the elements that their fans have come to expect from the band with an updated take on their style of heavy rock. This partnership with Victory Records is a very liberating, and the band looks at it as a reinvigorating shock to the system, vital to the beginning of their next chapter. TAPROOT has never been a band with gimmicks and bullshit; they create real, grassroots American hard rock with soul, energy and power.

Plead The Fifth showcases their roots-driven metal and rock while also reminding their listeners of the great depth in their songwriting. The songs are meaner, leaner and loaded with more punch and melody than any of the records that preceded it. Lead single, “Fractured (Everything I Said Was True)” is easily one of the catchiest and most riff-driven songs that they have ever written. Plead The Fifth hits stores on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.

Long live TAPROOT. See you in the pit.

COURTNEY LOVE TELLS FUSE THE “HOLE” STORY

By   Fri, May 07, 2010

COURTNEY LOVE TELLS FUSE THE “HOLE” STORY

Fuse, Madison Square Garden’s national music television network, sits down with Hole’s lead vocalist, Courtney Love in “Hole: On The Record with Fuse.” Premiering on Tuesday, May 11th at 8pm ET, Fuse host Toure’ goes one-on-one with Love for a candid interview discussing everything from her band, their highly anticipated new album, Nobody’s Daughter, her life with Kurt, being sober and much more.

The following are selected sound bites from the interview:

On being celibate while recording her latest album, Nobody’s Daughter:

“I actually ran into this woman in Vegas who was standing there the night that I walked away from this guy and said to her, ‘You know what?...I’m not f****** anyone until this record’s over.’ I did a Morrissey and I became, by choice, celibate for almost five years, which was bananas. It wasn’t as bananas as not being celibate though.  That has its problems too…”

On why she’s so good in bed:

“Because I was never pretty. Pretty girls just lie there, us girls who grew up a little more homely have to try a lot harder.  That’s why pretty girls never threaten me – it’s like, yeah you want to take me on? Take me on. Go for it.”

On Hole’s success:

“If you don’t really, really, really want it, you’re not going to get it…I’m not in a competition with some chicks…There aren’t any. I’m the last bitch standing...”

On Jessica Simpson and being good in bed:

“I’m sure Jessica Simpson loved that sexual napalm comment…in fact I know she did, because I asked her if she did…So we decided, since I’m the greatest f*** in the world and she’s sexual napalm, that we should get together and make sexual nuke.”

EYES SET TO KILL PREMIERE "THE LISTENING" ON AOL NOISECREEP

By   Tue, May 04, 2010

EYES SET TO KILL PREMIERE "THE LISTENING" ON AOL NOISECREEP

Forget all that nonsense about Eyes Set to Kill boasting the hottest metal chicks in sisters Alexia and Anissa Rodriguez, whose singing is accompanied by guitar and bass playing, respectively.  The girls and their band mates deliver the metal goods on 'The Listening,' a brand new song from their new album Broken Frames, an album so aggressive that it should lay to rest any notions that girls can't hang.

Or in this case, play! Noisecreep is premiering the exclusive stream for "The Listening," which deftly illustrates the Phoenix band's ability to rip and snort like demons all the while keeping our attention with clean melodies.  But despite the song's bluster, it holds a beautiful lyrical sentiment, doubling its impact.

Check out "The Listening" here: http://www.noisecreep.com/2010/05/03/eyes-set-to-kill-the-listening-song-premiere/

"'The Listening' captivates every ounce of faith I lost in God during the darkest times I felt like I could only count on hope," Alexia told Noisecreep about the personal nature of the song. "Sometimes, I get let down by something I prayed so hard for and it causes me to lose my strength and beliefs. Since I firmly believe that lot of people only pray when they need something that is hard to reach on their own, I thought writing "The Listening" would be an interesting way to make people think about why they really believe in God and if they are faithful for the right reasons."

Broken Frames is due out June 8 through Break Silence Records.  Pre-order your copy here: http://www.shopsilence.com/BreakSilence-Pre-Order-Store-s/24.htm?Click=2886

The commitment is to help musicians further their musical aspirations and provide tools for career growth
.

Vai began his career transcribing music for Frank Zappa and also worked with
Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake. But it is as a solo artist that Vai has
made his most valuable contributions, earning him three Grammy wins, eight
nominations, and over twenty million records sold worldwide. This announcement coincides with the 20th Anniversary of the Ibanez 7-String limited edition Universe Guitar, designed by Vai himself and used in the recording of his 1990 release Passion and Warfare.
Sixteen of these rare instruments will be available to purchase at select Guitar Center locations.

Guitar Center Sessions is just one of many Guitar Center initiatives created to foster growth and success within the music community, including its annual Drum-Off, On-Stage, Your Next Record, and King of the Blues competitions, among others. Guitar Center On-Stage, an unsigned band competition last judged by Mötley Crüe, saw the winning band, The Last Vegas, go on to open for Mötley Crüe on tour and subsequently topped iTunes critics' 2009 "Rock Singles of the Year List" with their hit single "I'm Bad." Guitar Center Presents Your Next Record with Slash provides emerging artists the chance to win the ultimate career-altering opportunity: record a 3-song EP with legendary producer, Mike Clink and have Slash write, record and perform on the winning artists' single -www.YourNextRecord.com. King of the Blues is a nationwide search for the next great undiscovered blues guitar player. Guitarists can currently sign-up at any of Guitar Center's 214 stores across the country for the chance to compete for thousands of dollars in prizes and the opportunity to perform at the King of the Blues
finals at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, and play on the same stage as Grammy Award-winning guitarist Derek Trucks.

Rockers’ Ultimate Road trip: Head North to Experience 43rd Quebec City Summer Festival

By   Sat, May 01, 2010

Music lovers from throughout New England are invited to brush up on their French, pack their bags, and head north for a unique music festival experience like no other: the Québec City Summer Festival. Celebrating its 43rd year, this eleven-day festival features a wide range of musical genres and over 1000 artists performing at three main outdoor venues.

Passes will be on sale on Saturday, May 1 at 10 a.m. at the regular price of $50 - taxes included, plus service fees – on the Festival website at www.infofestival.com. Festival goers can also purchase passes by calling 1-877-841-2010. The flashing pass for the Festival d’été de Québec is sold with a unique “Smart” bracelet containing a microchip valid for the entire Festival. Both items, the pass and the bracelet, are mandatory for admission to the sites and resale of this wristband is strictly forbidden. Visit www.infofestival.com for details on the sale of Hydro-Québec passes.

“It’s a steal!” exclaimed the General Manager of the Festival d’été de Québec, Daniel Gélinas. “This Festival is not only affordable; it gives everyone the chance to see great shows and international stars. In Europe or the US, you’d have to spend a lot more for an event like ours.”

The enigmatic “Bell Stage – Plains of Abraham” has been compared to Red Rocks, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Woodstock as memorable and captivating concert venues, and this year’s lineup at the festival’s largest venue will not disappoint:

JULY 9: Metal Legends IRON MAIDEN will attend the Festival on the Plaines of Abraham on July 9, bringing with them a huge new stage production for their first appearance in Quebec City in four years. Playing songs from across their illustrious career, they are likely to preview a song from their new album, The Final Frontier, which is expected to be released later in the summer. Maiden, who last week won a Juno for their documentary DVD Flight 666, will be joined by very special guests Dream Theater.

JULY 11: Roger Hodgson, who has been recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters and lyricists, will follow on July 11. As the legendary voice, writer and arranger of most of Supertramp’s greatest hits that led to more than 60 million record sales, he gave us amazingly enduring songs like: “Give a Little Bit”, “The Logical Song”, “Dreamer”, “Take the Long Way Home”, “Breakfast In America”, “It’s Raining Again”, “School”, “Fools Overture” and so many others that have become the soundtrack of our lives.

JULY 12: The Canadian group The Arcade Fire is back with songs that will be on their third album. The two-time Grammy Awards nominee is acclaimed by the public, the critics and such international greats as Davie Bowie, David Byrne and Peter Gabriel. In 2010, their song “Wake Up” played in NFL Super Bowl ads to raise funds for Partners in Health in Haiti.

JULY 13: The Santana Universal Tone Tour 2010 gets underway with an initial North American leg and will be with us on July 13. The Universal Tone Tour 2010 will feature hits from Santana's four-decades-long career, as well as songs from a brand new studio album that he is currently putting finishing touches on. Santana will be joined on the road by special guest Steve Winwood, who will open the dates.
JULY 15: Legendary Canadian rock band, RUSH, always popular in Quebec City, will be coming to the Festival for the first time. Inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame for Limelight, Closer to the Heart, Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer and Subdivisions, Rush has 24 Gold Records and 14 Platinum Records to its credit in the United States.

JULY 16: Six-time Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum artists The Black Eyed Peas will keep the party going on July 16 with their # 1 hits including “Boom, Boom Pow”, “I Gotta Feeling” and “Imma Be”. This stop is part of the North American leg of BlackBerry® presents “The Black Eyed Peas “The E.N.D. World Tour 2010” with Bacardi®, as the Official Spirit. The tour marks the first time that will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie are united for North American headline dates since their 2006 Monkey Business world tour.

JULY 17: Having blown Festival fans away in 2005 and 2007, BILLY TALENT is pumped for its third appearance at the Festival on July 17. Blistering with energy, BILLY TALENT captures the spirit, attitude, and explosiveness that first launched rock's rebel cause. The group musically captures a pressing sense of urgency devoid of anything trite or gimmicky. Ultimately, Billy Talent is the type of band that pops as much for its melodic sensibilities as for its against-the-grain aggression.

JULY 18: Finally, the German band Rammstein will be closing the Festival with their first North American mega show. Industrial rock, pyrotechnics and visual effects are the trademark of this supercharged group, world record holders for sales of German-language albums. Since its start-up in 1994, Rammstein has built a solid network of diehard fans over the years. The Finnish cello quartet, Apocalyptica, will blow spectators away in the first part of the show with their takes on heavy metal hits and original compositions.

Francophiles will enjoy hearing performances in both English and French, and can meet well-known French TV personality Daniela Lumbroso and several top Francophone singers from here and abroad, past and present to be broadcast on French television in the fall 2010 on France 3, TV5 Monde and in Canada to a potential audience of 5 million television viewers. This will be the Festival’s biggest TV production ever. Expect an emotion-packed evening of song on July 14 as Gilles Vigneault celebrates a career spanning 50 years.

The Molson Dry Stage at Parc de la francophonie offers the best in French song from such artists as Enrico Macias and l’Orchestre Arabo-Andalou, Sanseverino, as well as ambassadors of reggae from three generations -- Bedouin Soundclash, Pierpoljak and the great Jimmy Cliff. Longtime Genesis fans can happily reunite with a former key member, guitarist Steve Hackett, whose complex and distinctive style greatly contributed to the band’s rise to fame in the 70s. The guitar will be in able hands with Steve Hill and the folk-rock of Colin Moore, John Butler Trio and Trevor Hall, along with Passion Pit, The Cat Empire, Phantogram and Fool’s Gold. Watch for hot new soul and R&B talent, Bobby Bazini, as well as Sam Shalabi, who will open for Enrico Macias with a tribute to Egyptian Shaabi.

At Place Metro at Place D’Youville, world music artists converge from the four corners of the earth. This year, the Festival welcomes Staff Benda Bilili, a Congolese orchestra made up of paraplegic street musicians, Charlie Winston, L’Orchestre Septentrional, Allen Toussaint, Éthiopiques collective, Mahmoud Ahmed as well as a first appearance by musician, producer, actor, director and winner of two Palmes d'Or at Cannes, Emir Kusturica, accompanied by The No Smoking Orchestra.

Original Daisy Rock “Star” Guitar Inducted Into Musical Instruments Museum

Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, the original girl-guitar company, was thrilled to be inducted into the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM), a 195,000-square-foot facility in Northern Phoenix that’s billed as the world’s first global musical instrument museum, on April 24, 2010.

Daisy Rock’s original star-shaped electric guitar prototype model will be among the first instruments visitors of MIM will see, featured prominently inside the museum’s Guitar Galley. MIM’s Media Relations Manager, Alan di Perna stated, “The Guitar Gallery is one of MIM's orientation galleries. We wanted to greet guests with an instrument that is familiar to many and widely loved. But the exhibit also illustrates how this seemingly familiar instrument has taken on many varied, sometimes surprising, and frequently beautiful forms over the course of time and in different parts of the world. As such, the distinctive style of the Daisy Rock guitar on exhibit helps us to tell this story.”

“When I started Daisy Rock Girl Guitar, I wanted to change the guitar community for my daughters, and for girls all around the world,” commented Tish Ciravolo, Daisy Rock Founder and President. “With the induction of the original Daisy guitar inside the Museum of Making Music in 2006, and now the induction of the first Star girl guitar in the Musical Instruments Museum, I’m so honored to see Daisy Rock Girl Guitars recognized so prominently and showcased for the world to see. It’s yet another sign that the girl guitar revolution is a historic and important shift in society and culture. Rock the world girls!”

1st ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL TAKES OVER 70TH ANNUAL STURGIS RALLY IN STURGIS, SOUTH DAKOTA!

By   Fri, Apr 30, 2010

1st ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL TAKES OVER 70TH ANNUAL STURGIS RALLY IN STURGIS, SOUTH DAKOTA!

High octane multi-platinum rockers STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, CREED, GODSMACK, THREE DOORS DOWN, WOLFMOTHER, and HINDER top the long list of bands combining forces with DC3 Global to hijack the world’s biggest, baddest biker event for five full nights of undeniable rock ‘n’ roll bedlam – Monday, Aug. 9 through Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at the inaugural ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL, part of the legendary Sturgis Rally’s 70th Anniversary celebration in Sturgis, SD.

With an unrivaled lineup of 20 bands over five nights and spectacular fireworks displays each night in the nation’s largest outdoor amphitheater at the 600-acre Glencoe CampResort, the ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL promises to be the hands-down largest party ever thrown at the world’s largest motorcycle event, which annually draws over a half million patrons. World famous showman Jim Rose and his side circus are set to emcee the five-day event and give attendees a show they will never forget. Eagles of Death Metal, The Darling Stilettos, Pop Evil, Skillet, and Swayback are just some of the other bands making massive music at this colossal biker bash. Stay tuned for major announcements of many more bands being added in the weeks ahead!

Tickets for the ROCKN’ REV FESTIVAL are $45 per day, general admission ($150 for a five-day pass), and go on sale FRIDAY, April 30 at NOON EST through Ticketmaster.com and rocknrevfestival.com and at all Ticketmaster locations, or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Tickets also will be available each day at the gate. For more information on exclusive VIP packages ($1,000 for five days), including backstage access to a VIP area to special, air-conditioned tents with private bars, motorcycle parking, luxury bathroom facilities and more, go to rocknrevfestival.com. Deeply discounted Concert N’ Camping packages are available on the Glencoe CampResort website at glencoecamp.com. Gates open at 4 p.m. daily. Show time each day is 6 p.m. For complete information, call the hotline at (800) 272-4712.

Jim Rose will be Master of Ceremonies at the ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL all week and will have his wildly acclaimed modern day sideshow, the Jim Rose Circus, unfurling shows between acts nightly. The sideshow originally came to prominence on Lollapalooza’s second stage, when it was called “Lollapalooza’s word-of-mouth attraction” by USA Today and later, “the absolute must-see act” by Rolling Stone. This is the first time in almost 20 years that Jim has returned to the stage at a large-scale festival as Master of Ceremonies.

“This makes Lollapalooza look like Littlepalooza,” says Rose. “This makes Ozzfest seem like Blahfest. Screw Bonnaroo, Rock’N Rev is epic!  And I plan on bringing thrills, chills and doctor bills, many of it never seen before.”

Everything about the ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL will appeal to the “leather and chrome” sensibilities in everyone who attends, from those who embody the biker life style to the more casually minded weekend warriors and their families. The Vendor Village will be overflowing with an assortment of food, clothing, gear and other accessories, including loads of top tattoo artists and the best barbeque and related cooking specialists from the nation’s sauciest hotspots such as Austin, Memphis, Chicago, and New Orleans. The overall Mardi Gras atmosphere will recall some of Europe’s top festivals, with a decidedly American flair. After all, biking and rock ‘n’ roll are two of America’s greatest heritages.

While live concerts always have been a staple at Sturgis, there never has been such an incredible concentration of high caliber performers being showcased in a five-day stretch. The unstoppable combination of first-class concert promotions in a first-class camping resort facility is unsurpassed anywhere.

Glencoe CampResort is world-renowned for its clean, comfortable camping facilities, complete with full-service bars and restaurants, in close proximity to the city of Sturgis, providing a resort-like experience for people attending the Sturgis Rally. Still family owned and operated, Glencoe is continuing to develop and improve in conjunction with DC3 Global’s new festival initiative ignited by the ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL. DC3 Global already is raising the bar with plans to expand its festival presence not only at Glencoe, but around the country. DC3 now is helping to oversee and accelerate the continued expansions and upgrades at Glencoe, already including the purchase of additional shaded acreage for camping, the planting of hundreds of new trees, and everything from roads, and the upgrades of bathrooms, food stands and shower houses.

DC3’s co-founder, Daniel E. Catullo III, has been involved in the Sturgis Rally since 2006, as exclusive producers of TV, pay-per-view and DVD specials for RTR in 2006 and 2007, and an executive producer of the Rock ‘N Rally Festival (2007). He’s combining his years of Sturgis experience with the tremendous resources of DC3 to significantly up the ante at Glencoe and launch an entirely new national brand for years to come with the ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL.

“I’ve always seen the need for something large scale at Sturgis,” says Catullo, an award-winning concert video producer and director as well. “We’re looking forward in coming years to see that incredible amphitheater fill to capacity every night. The grounds at Glencoe CampResort are an ideal and idyllic setting to host a multi-day music festival.”

“This is a new beginning for us,” adds Sean Clark, owner of Glencoe Camp Resort. “We’re just so excited with the development of this new ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL brand and the high degree that DC3 is going to be taking it around the country through other motorcycle festivals.”

Stone Temple Pilots, Wednesday’s headliner (Aug. 11), is one of the rare bands able to sweep the airwaves with a fresh tune while clogging classic rock playlists with its catalog. Between the Lines, the first single from the grunge-era giants’ self-titled comeback album due May 25, is reigning in several formats at rock radio, and topping several rock charts. Indeed, you can turn on any rock station and hear Interstate Love Song, Vasoline, Plush or other '90s STP hits, but the biggest news is that people are as eager to hear the band’s first new music in a number of years, just as they’ve been through career sales of more than 12 million albums in the U.S. alone. One of STP’s special guests will be Wolfmother, the Australian band whose song “Woman,” off its acclaimed self-titled 2005 debut album, earned their first Grammy (Best Hard Rock Performance). Widely considered one of the all-time top acts to emerge from Down Under, their sophomore album, Cosmic Egg, was released last fall Fronted by the bone-chilling vocals of Andrew Stockdale, Wolfmother is frequently compared to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, though Stockdale himself says the band brings "a mix of the playfulness of Earth Wind and Fire with the intensity of Black Flag". With Stockdale a mainstay out front, Wolfmother will be debuting a new lineup at Rock N’ Rev that includes drummer Will Rockwell-Scott of the Mooney Suzuki. Another STP guest, Swayback, is a breakout Denver band that Spin magazine says “recalls Velvet Underground if they were forced to share a cell with a codeine-addled Danzig and fed a steady diet of Factory Records.” Legendary British producer Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones) has taken Swayback under his sonic wing and recorded music linking its sound with classic purveyors of innovative, guitar-driven rock ‘n’ roll. Other special guests on the 11th include Eagles Of Death Metal. More at www.stonetemplepilots.com, www.wolfmother.com, www.theswayback.com, and www.eaglesofdeathmetal.com.

Creed, headlining Tuesday (Aug. 10), is one of the most successful rock bands of the past decade. Since their formation, Creed has sold close to 35 million albums and millions of concert tickets. The songwriting team of Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti is considered one of the most prolific in rock history. Their new CD Full Circle, debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart last fall. Special guests of Creed will be Skillet, a hard rock outfit breaking from the Christian rock circuit to the secular music world in a major way. The Florida band’s latest album, Awake, debuted at No. 2 in Billboard chart last summer, spawning major radio hits in "Monster" and "Hero," while World Wrestling Entertainment used both songs in promoting a variety of events. More at www.creed.com and www.skillet.com.

Godsmack, Monday’s headliner (Aug. 9), is making its triumphant return to Sturgis after packing the house in 2007 with one of the most memorable performances in the event’s history. The Boston rockers are touring to support their fifth studio album, The Oracle, being released May 4. It’s the band's first studio effort since 2006's IV, another platinum-plus trailblazer for the group, debuting at #1 on The Billboard 200 chart (their second #1 debut following 2003's Faceless) and harking back to the signature sound of multiplatinum masterpieces like their five-million-selling breakthrough debut album and 2000's Awake. Godsmack's most recent album release was the acclaimed greatest-hits package, Good Times Bad Times....Ten Years of Godsmack, delivered to fans at the end of 2007. Godsmack’s special guests will include propulsive Michigan fist-pumpers Pop Evil and swaggering chick-rockers the Darling Stilettos (featuring Guns ‘N Roses’ Matt Sorum on drums). More at www.godsmack.com, www.popevil.com, and www.darlingstilettos.com

“Anyone who doesn't experience Sturgis during bike week is really missing out on a piece of true American Culture,” adds Godsmack lead singer Sully Erna. “Raw, hard and as real as it gets, Sturgis is a place to rock hard and ride free and Rock N’ Rev is the festival to be at!  Can't wait to get back!”

Three Doors Down, headlining Thursday (Aug. 12), is an American post-grunge band from Mississippi who have sold more than 20 million records worldwide and has had numerous #1 singles including the 2000 hit “Kryptonite.” The band often performs more than 300 concerts per year and have toured with such other artists as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Megadeath, Nickelback, Shinedown, Daughtry and Alter Bridge to name a few. Joining 3DD are retro rock juggernauts Hinder, who update classic raw riffs, big hooks and vocal harmonies, with modern guitar sounds. Their triple platinum debut, Extreme Behavior, documented the decadence and strained relationships of these, whose subsequent cover of Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild” for NASCAR last year was a natural extension of their lives on the road. More at www.3doorsdown.com and www.hindermusic.com.

Jim Rose is a veteran sideshow performer and founder of the Jim Rose Sideshow, which was formed in the early 1990s and made famous in 1992 when they toured on the Lollapalooza Festival. Rose will perform between acts with his sideshow buddies and give patrons the show of their lives, which often includes masochistic deeds and stunts. More at www.jimrosecircus.com.
