Welcome to July's issue of Road Crew Magazine! We are celebrating our freedom this month! You know in many countries they don't have the liberties we enjoy in the United States. Since we are a music magazine I will focus just on that- there are so many coutries where it is illegal to listen to certain artists and certain artists are jailed, tortured and even killed. Censorship....it's a dirty word and I plan on having lots of articles on freedom of expression this month. Also, our interview with the master, Vinnie Moore, as well as CJ Pierce of Drowning Pool, and John Allen of The Charm City Devils! Rock On!
Talkin it up with CJ Pierce of Drowning Pool
Drowning Pool has landed a spot on the coveted Crue Fest Tour this summer and you know what? They deserve it! They are a band that have gone through some tough times. They lost their first lead singer to a rare heart disease, they have had their equipment stolen, they have felt what it is like to be kicked down. But, I think it is their time to rise! I spoke to Ryan and Stevie in April and now I had the chance to speak to CJ. They are some of the most down to earth, nice, fun guys that I have ever met in the music world and considering all they have gone through...that is saying something!
I don't want to forget to mention how much of their time they give to our Armed Forces. They just got back from a show at Guantanamo Bay on Memorial Day weekend. They have shown an unwavering support for the men and women who serve our country. The song "Soldiers" on the CD "Full Circle" is worth the price alone just for that single....the words speak volumns.
So here is mine and CJ's chat. Thanks CJ for your time...and just so you know that only leaves Mike for me to interview and I'm going to get you Mike when you're in Denver!

Interviews,
A Chat With John Allen of Charm City Devils
The Charm City Devils were the first band signed by Nikki Sixx as President of Eleven Seven Music. He was quoted as saying: “When I first heard Charm City Devils, my initial thought, along with everyone at Eleven Seven, was this is a real rock band! When I listen to their music I hear elements of credible bands like Aerosmith and I feel AC/DC. I like the fact that they aren’t from New York or LA. You don’t hear many bands from Baltimore and these guys carry on tradition with their own relevant and modern sound with classic riffs.”
I was stoked when I got a chance to speak with John Allen, the lead singer of the Charm City Devils. Hey, and he was getting a tattoo while he chatted with me...how rock and roll is that?

Doritos Breaks New Ground In Fusing Music And Technology By Putting Blink-182, Big Boi Concerts In The Palms Of Fans' Hands
Continuing its track record as one of the world's most cutting-edge brands, Doritos tortilla chips today announced that fans nationwide can buy specially marked bags of Doritos Late Night chips as their "ticket" to a virtual concert of 3-D performances by multi-platinum selling rock band blink-182 and Big Boi -- all made possible by the power of augmented reality technology. The exclusive venue, http://www.doritoslatenight.com, is where rock and hip-hop-lovers alike will get to see their favorite artists onstage and online in a truly one-of-kind performance. Doritos Late Night is one of the latest snacks launched by PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division.
"From MP3s to lap tops to mobile phones, young consumers have come to expect the ability to enjoy music anytime, anywhere," said Ann Mukherjee, group vice president, marketing, Frito-Lay North America. "That's why we're putting Doritos lovers in control of when and where they access actual performances by two of the best musical acts across rock, pop and hip-hop, in a totally unprecedented way - a concert in the palm of your hand."
The Doritos Late Night online concert is the first-ever augmented reality experience to showcase live-action video within a 3-D, interactive environment. Upon logging on at http://www.doritoslatenight.com:
o Point a special symbol located on the back of Doritos Late Night special-edition bags at a web cam
o Access the virtual performances, including two fan-favorite songs by bling-182 ("Rock Show" and "I Miss You") and one from Big Boi ("Ringtone")
o Hold, move and shake the bag to personalize each artist's performance, offering up a new experience each and every time
After enjoying the virtual show, fans also will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win tickets to a live blink-182 show in the city of their choice. blink-182's nearly sold-out summer tour begins on July 24, 2009 in Las Vegas and stops in more than 40 cities.
With more than 20 million albums sold worldwide, blink-182 is widely considered one of the best punk rock bands of all time. Known for connecting with their fans, blink-182 is out to prove that after five years apart, they can still deliver a massive show and this will be the highlight of the summer touring season.
"We're always looking for innovative new ways to bring music to our fans, and an online 3-D performance was something we just had to be a part of," said Mark Hoppus, vocalist and bassist of blink-182. "As big technology guys, we're pumped that people can now experience a little bit of our summer tour through something as accessible as a bag of Doritos and a computer. It's very cool."
Intended to inspire the uninhibited "late night" side of Doritos lovers, the Doritos Late Night flavors launched in April 2009 and include Tacos at Midnight and Last Call Jalapeno Popper. Doritos Late Night flavors are $3.99 for a 13.8 oz. bag or $1.29 for a 3.6 oz bag, and the special-edition bags are available for a limited time at retailers nationwide where Doritos chips are sold.
The Doritos Late Night virtual music-offering is the latest evolution of the Doritos brand allowing consumers to be in control. The Doritos "Crash the Super Bowl" program, which started in 2007, turns the brand's Super Bowl advertising over to its fans. As a result, the brand was the first to broadcast a consumer-created ad during the big game in 2007, launched the music career of a fan by showcasing her original music video during the brand's Super Bowl air time in 2008, and propelled two out-of-work brothers from Indiana to near super-stardom when their home-made Doritos Super Bowl spot topped USA Today's annual ad meter in the third iteration of this groundbreaking program in 2009.
Artists,
Life After Rockstar:INXS
In 1988-89, INXS was one of music's biggest names. Their album Kick produced four top 10 singles in the US, including: New Sensation, Never Tear Us Apart, Devil Inside and Need You Tonight, which reached #1.
In 1997, the band was struck by tragedy with the devastating loss of the their lead singer Michael Hutchence, who was 37 years old. After Hutchence's death, the band did not perform publicly for about a year, but when they returned to the public scene, they performed with guest singers, never replacing the late Hutchence.
In 2000, Jon Stevens began performing with INXS, who played as one of the headling acts at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, followed by tours in South America and Europe. In 2002, Stevens was offically named a member of INXS, but would leave the band in October 2003 to pursue a solo career.
In 2004, it was announced that there would be a new reality show on CBS....Rockstar:INXS, in which contestants would battle it out for the chance to become the new lead singer for the band.
Hosted by MTV's Brooke Burke and guitarist Dave Navarro, the show kicked off on July 11, 2005. Fifteen was narrowed down to one, when Canada native JD Fortune was name the new lead singer for INXS. The show birthed two albums, A Night at the Mayan Theater, featuring performances from each contestant from the premiere, The Best of Rockstar:INXS, and a DVD, Rockstar:INXS, featuring performances from the final six contestants. But what happened to the contestants after Rockstar:INXS? Where did their paths lead and in what direction did their careers go? Road Crew Magazine takes a look at the final five contestants, Jordis Unga, Suzie McNeil, MiG Ayesa, Marty Casey and JD Fortune and their lives after Rockstar.
#5: Jordis Unga
Regardless of being the youngest contestant on Rockstar:INXS, Jordis Unga was the first singer to open the Rockstar series with a scorching rendition of Baba O'Riley by The Who. Each week, she continued to stun the crowd with stellar and emotional renditions of songs, such as David Bowie's Man Who Sold the World and the late, great John Lennon's timeless classic, Imagine.
She achieved something no unsigned artist had before, in having the top four most downloaded songs on MSN Music, simultaneously. When her journey to become the singer for INXS ended, it wasn't before she had made it to the top 5 and got to share her original song, Try Not.
Since the shows end, Jordis has shared the stage with musical greats including James Taylor and has performed with Camp Freddy, Scott Weiland and Slash. Now based out of LA with her current band Angels of Modern Destruction, Jordis can be found on myspace, facebook, twitter and her official website.
#4: Suzie McNeil
Suzie McNeil was the last woman standing, climbing all the way to the final four in the search for INXS' new lead singer. Dubbed Sweet Suzie McNeil by Dave Navarro, she was a powerhouse vocalist, proving that you don't have to be a man to rock with them. She provided amazing covers of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, INXS' Suicide Blonde and STP's Interstate Love Song, in which she was joined on guitar by Navarro. Suzie never ceased to blow the crowd away with her soulful vocals and her magical stage presence.
Since Rockstar, Suzie has signed with Universal Records and has worked with artists including Pink and Buckcherry. She also has two albums under her belt, Broken and Beautiful released in 2007 and Rock-n-Roller, released in 2008 featuring the powerful ballad Don't Tell Me Goodbye. Her newest single Supergirl, has hit Billboards Canadian Top 100 Singles Chart and is at number 36 for the date of 7-4-2009. Suzie's inspirational song Believe has been featured on many TV shows, including The Biggest Loser and has been chosen by Bill Canada to be the official 2010 Olympic Inspired song.
In 2008, Suzie was nominated for a Canadian Radio Music Award, Best New Artist Juno Award and won the Canadian Independence Music for Favorite Pop Artist/Group of the year.
Suzie can be found at her official website, myspace, facebook and on twitter.
#3 MiG Ayesa
MiG Ayesa exploded onto the Rockstar stage, capturing fans and INXS alike, with his powerful and theatrical performances. Covering songs like Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones classic Paint It Black.
Towards the end of the run, MiG found himself along side fellow competitors Marty Casey and JD Fortune in the final three. For MiG, that would be where his journey would end, but his true career would begin.
At the end of the show, MiG signed with Universal and released a self-titled CD in the US and Canada that features some of rock's greatest classic hits including Wrapped Around Your Finger by The Police and Angie by The Rolling Stones, as well as three of his own original songs.
MiG is still signed with Universal and is currently working on a new CD. He can be found on myspace, facebook, his official website, and has a street team set up for fans.
#2 Marty Casey (aka The Mad Conductor)
Marty Casey, also given the title of "The Mad Conductor", was a voice to be reckoned with during the Rockstar:INXS competition, with his mind blowing performances of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, Radiohead's Creep and his unforgettable original hit Trees, which he performed both electric and again in an acoustic encore performance in which he was joined by Dave Navarro. But Even in the midst of major rockin performances and a huge fan base, Marty would only obtain runner up in his quest to become the new front man for INXS.
At the shows conclusion, Marty and his band Lovehammers were offered the job as the opening act for INXS' upcoming tour, which he accepted. While on tour Marty Casey and Lovehammers was released on January 24, 2006 through Epic Records, featuring songs from their previous Indie albums. After the tour with INXS, Lovehammers headlined their own tour in 2006.
Success would soon find Marty in a new form, the form of L.A. Guns to be exact. When the band found themselves in need of a vocalist, they asked Casey to fit the bill. While the decision was not an easy one to make, he accepted the Guns offer in 2008.
Today, Marty finds himself back at the helm of Lovehammers, armed a new CD set for release on July 21, 2009, with release parties in Chicago, LA and New York City.
For more information on Marty Casey, check him out on myspace, facebook, twitter and his official website.
Rockstar:INXS Winner, JD Fortune
When the final song had been sung, the votes counted and the dust settled, it was JD Fortune who was told, "You are right for our band, INXS."
JD had wowed viewers and the band members with his covers of You Can't Always Get What You Want by The Stones, and Pink Floyd's Money, as well as his original tune Pretty Vegas, which would be featured on the new INXS album Switch, released in November of 2005.
Pretty Vegas would go on to reach #5 on the iTunes store ranking of top downloads on it's first day, would hit #9 in Australia, #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 and would reach #1, going platinum in JD's native country of Canada.
INXS launched their world tour in 2006 with runner up Marty Casey's band Lovehammers opening.
In February of 2009. in an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, JD reviled his split with the band, stating it took place in a Hong Kong airport with the shake of a hand, talked about his struggle with cocaine use and about the fact that he is living out of his car, sinking every dime into his album The Death of a Motivational Speaker.
In response to his statement about his end with INXS, the band's former manager Chris Murphy responded stating, "Not only are we shocked by the claims, even the place the supposed incident was to have taken place is a mystery to the band. The band has a new recording deal with my label and Fortune was about to be called. I guess I have no reason to call him now."
As the lyrics in Fortune's Pretty Vegas say, "It ain't pretty, after the show. It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go." Having tasted both the highs and the lows of the rockstar life, JD is fighting to get his life and his career back on the right path.
For more on JD, check out his official website and myspace pages.
Reviews,
Our Lady Peace ~ Burn Burn
Our Lady Peace is back with their 7th studio album, Burn Burn, after nearly 4yrs in between discs. It is the largest time span the band has taken to date, but well worth the wait, and yet the shortest track listing for the band at the same time! This disc, having been completely left in the hands of the band themselves, is as basic as it can get with 4 guys in a room, making a rock album they all love and are truly proud of. Every one of the 10 songs was hand picked by only them, and the songs are just as amazing played live as they are to hear on the disc. There is also a deluxe edition available, that includes 2 bonus tracks. Singer, Raine Maida produced the disc himself, in his home studio, while Duncan Coutts (bass), Jeremy Taggart (drums) & Steve Mazur (guitar), lived with him off and on during the process. Maida, who wrote most of the lyrics as in the past, has described this album to be like "Naveed, but a little more mature". Steve makes sure there is no guitar lacking in any song, and the rhythm section is just as strong as it ever was. Raine's voice is as pure and honest as his lyrics and the message in each song is as poetic as it has been in every album. As a band they just seem to be getting better and better with age, like wine or cheese. If that is what maturity does, bring it on!
The first single off Burn Burn is "All You Did Was Save My Life" . There is no set plan on how many singles they will release or even what the next one will be, but if fans have any say, according to posts left on YouTube "Paper Moon" might be a good choice at some point, as it already seems to be a huge hit there. "Monkey Brains" is actually a song about the migration of the Monarch butterflies, but is a pretty heavy song and with a chorus like "they're coming after you, its all you can do" it really can be applied to almost anything in life! Over all, this disc does NOT fail to to impress, especially if you are already a fan of Our Lady Peace. Or if you are simply looking for something slightly different then what is all over the mainstream radio at the moment.

SPOTLIGHT: Exit The Ride
The music of EXIT THE RIDE is an intense and emotional blend of classic and modern rock. Guitar virtuoso BILL PECK and singer/songwriter SAM STONE began collaborating in 2004, and quickly cemented themselves as an important part of the central Florida music scene. Bill Peck brings his groundbreaking guitar work to the forefront of a modern rock format, giving fans a chance to hear his true versatility with monster riffs and scorching solos. Alter Bridge's MARK TREMONTI described Peck as a “whammy bar, tapping, and legato master” in the 2004 October issue of Guitar One magazine. SAM STONE injects his unique vocal sound and writing style into songs that are reminiscent of the big 80’s but with a feel and delivery suited for today‘s rock world. Bassist RYAN SALAMONE brings rhythm and high energy that will keep your head moving to every song. And drummer Billy the Kid slams the skins and brings back the drum solo with style ! EXIT THE RIDE has performed at festivals and venues throughout the southeast and gained many new fans through the years. History and Background of Saint Blues www.saintblues.com
The roots of St. Blues started in the 1960’s, when Tom Keckler (also known as TK) went to work for Mike Ladd’s Guitar City. Mike was well known in the Memphis music scene. He had gone to high school and played with Greg and Duane Allman but was unable to join them in The Allman Joys. However, he was in a band call The Breakers which was so popular at the time that The Yardbirds opened for them when they played Memphis. Mike customized guitars and soon he and TK built a reputation for some of the best custom work in the country. People like Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page were customers of Mike’s. Page liked what they had done so much he asked them to go on tour and tech for him. Many other guitar legends followed over the years. The shop, located across the street from Graceland, ended up building a special guitar for Elvis as a birthday present from his dad. This one-of-a-kind guitar can be seen played by Elvis in his “Elvis, Live from Hawaii” video.
After a long illness, Mike closed Guitar City in 1972. TK moved his custom shop to Strings & Things, the legendary Memphis music store founded by Chris Lovell and Charlie Lawing. In 1978, TK left Memphis to hook up with Tom Anderson and David Schecter turning Schecter Guitar Research from a parts supplier to a guitar company. In 1983 he moved back to Memphis rejoining Chris and Charlie to build custom guitars for Strings and Things. These first generation guitars were called S&T Custom Workshop Guitars. Dealers were wild for the guitars but not for the name. The name was changed to Saint Blues in 1984 and the brand was born.
The first original guitar prototype designed for St. Blues was the Bluesmaster. Its unique shape, vintage appearance and playability created a lot of interest from players. The list of Bluesmaster players includes U2’s Bono on the Rattle and Hum album, Elliot Easton of the Cars, Eric Clapton, Marshall Crenshaw, Jeff Carlisi of .38 Special, Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult, Scott Page of Pink Floyd and Toto, Billy Squier, Martin Briley, Elvin Bishop, Joe Walsh and Glenn Frey of the Eagles, Dave Edmunds, Albert King, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and many more.
The guitars were a critical success. However, in 1989, with the dollar at an historic low against the Yen, St. Blues, single sourced by ESP in Japan, was priced out of the market. Without the capital to retool elsewhere, they mothballed the line but continued to build custom guitars.
Interest in the line has never waned, with sales of vintage St. Blues models on eBay going for record prices. In 2004, Vintage Guitar Magazine wrote several articles about these guitars. With Jeff Carlisi singing its praises above all of his other guitars these articles created a new demand. Players and dealers alike wouldn’t let it go. In 2006 St. Blues was reborn by investment from Memphis Ventures and Bryan M. Eagle III with Tom Keckler back at the wheel. Today, every St. Blues guitar is finished and set up in Memphis and will always have its roots in this hallowed ground. St. Blues markets its line of vintage style guitars and basses through over 150 independent dealers around the US and overseas.

Deana Martin Flies High With New CD, 'Volare'
On the heels of her smash hit CD, "Memories Are Made Of This", Deana Martin and Big Fish Records announce the release of their new CD, "Volare".
Volare, Italian for 'to fly', is a fitting album title for Deana Martin on so many levels. Her 2006 CD, "Memories Are Made Of This" was a Top 10 chart success - it remained on the album charts for over 40 weeks - a remarkable achievement in an era when heavy metal rock and rap dominate pop music.
If Dean Martin was "The King of Cool" (a moniker hoisted on the legendary entertainer by no less than Elvis Presley himself), Deana is the Queen of Cool! On each of the 15 songs on this new CD, we're treated to the versatility, passion and showmanship of an entertainer who was born to interpret this music. On a program that includes timeless classics penned by everyone from Billy Joel to Elvis Presley to Cole Porter, it takes a singer who can do more than sing. It takes a vocalist who knows how to interpret the essence of each song.
Deana Martin can - and she does!
From the opening number, "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone", you hear an entertainer who can swing as hard as any brass section. With each song, ballad or swinger, you begin to realize that the Martin family tree blossoms with talent and entertainment exuberance. Dino himself has got to be beaming with pride over his daughter's achievements and enthusiasm for The Great American Songbook.
"Volare", like all the songs on this album, has a personal association with Deana: "Each song on this CD has a great memory for me. I'm honored to have known so many of the incredible artists whose songs I have the opportunity to interpret on this album." Just listen to her imaginative approach on tunes like "What A Difference A Day Makes" (her Mother's favorite song); "A Kiss To Build A Dream On" (dedicated to the memory of her Mother-In-Law, Christine). And listen closely to the title track, "Volare". According to Deana: "I actually took Italian lessons for that song so I could make my reading be the best it could be". The best - obviously, Deana learned well from her Dad and his Pallies on how to develop her craft.
On "Volare", Deana pays homage to several men who each contributed to her artistry: Dean Martin (who once told her that taking voice lessons would diminish her prowess as a vocalist); Frank Sinatra (who actually gave Deana her first vocal lesson) and Dean Martin's longtime showbiz partner, Jerry Lewis - a dear friend to Deana and member of the extended Martin family.
"Volare" is the culmination of nearly a year of hard work at Capitol Records, with a proverbial A-Team of Multi-GRAMMY AWARD WINNERS ™ as Deana's supporting cast. Names like legendary recording engineer Al Schmitt (winner of 20 GRAMMY AWARDS ™) and engineer Steve Genewick Mastering engineer Ron McMaster, A&R Rob Christie. Arranger/Conductor Charles Calello and Producer John Griffeth.
One listen to Deana Martin's new CD, "Volare" - and it's easy to see why this lady performs to capacity crowds from Branson to Brisbane and beyond!
Early buzz about "Volare" from celebrity colleagues:
"Since purchasing Deana Martin's Volare, she had me at Track 1 with "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone", what vocals! I recorded a disco version of "I've Got You Under My Skin" in 1978, I must say Deana brings a freshness and an originality to this classic that made me take notice. This is my favorite type of genre along with jazz, and I can only hope to have the honor of one day singing a duet with Ms. Martin. She sets the "standards" high with this collection of classics."
-Gloria Gaynor, Grammy Winning Singer/entertainer
"I immediately felt a bond and connection on many levels with Deana Martin and Volare! I come from a musical background myself and trained in classical and opera music. Like Ms. Martin, my father (the late Alexander Ulf Bjorlin, internationally known composer/conductor) also was a huge inspiration and influence on me growing up. He was a wonderful father and a talented musician. Volare is obviously an extension of her love and admiration of her father, and the talent is definitely passed on!"
-Nadia Bjorlin, actress, NBC's "Days of our Lives", singer in sibling group, The Bjorlin Trio

Gear and Tech,
Musicians turning to software instead of hardware? How is it made?
This is an interview with the head of development for The MAKING of AMPLITUBE FENDER®, the first software guitar/bass amp and FX software product, featuring the modeled sounds of famous Fender tones. This milestone represents the future of technology for musicians, taking expensive hardware and turning it into affordable software, but maintaining the sound quality and character that musicians have come to know and depend on for stage and studio performances from Fender®. This interview is with Davide Barbi, chief technology officer of IK Multimedia (head of development). There are also quotes from Shane Nicholas, Fender® Musical Instruments Corp, Senior Marketing Manager, Fender® Guitar Amplifiers.
What makes this different from other Fender amp modelers?
First there are no other Fender amp modelers, official, we mean :). IK Multimedia’s “AmpliTube Fender” has been done in collaboration with Fender® and the whole 12-amps’ modeling process took two years of continuous work.
Each single amp (and the same is for the FX and stompboxes) was continuously refined and retouched, based on extensive listening tests conducted in both Fender and in our labs.
This made the models sound exactly as Fender wanted them to sound, this is not a small difference if you compare these models to other manufacturer's "Fender" emulations, you can be sure Fender didn't want a '64 Vibroverb model to sound somehow different than the real thing!
Since the groundbreaking arrival of AmpliTube 2 software, IK approached modeling of the amplifiers by modeling each amp from the ground up, with a totally new study of the DSP (digital signal processing) that every time, for every amp, starts from the beginning.
We don't like modeling amps by using a single generic model and just "setting internal parameters" on it. This is the approach some competitors are using, and it does not simply sound good enough to us because it doesn't translate the magic each piece of high quality audio gear has. We have total respect for what amp manufacturers do and how they design their creations, so we don't want to model amps by using "our" creation tailored to that sound, instead we just model the real thing as it is, from ground up, including all choices and solutions the designer made.
Every amp model at IK starts form its schematics, stage by stage. Since computing power is continuously increasing, we are now able to keep into consideration all stages of the amp, no compromises.
This is the first step. The second step is ear and feel tuning. Even when you model amps by schematics and math sometimes, even if you get it right, you still miss that final touch.
Here is where the tuning part comes in, we have the models played by musicians that know how things should sound, and give their input. Then we work on the models, and this tuning process goes on and on, for every single DSP part you see in our products like in the “Powered by AmpliTube” line (referencing AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™, Ampeg® SVX, and other brand-name modeling cooperation products)
Likewise, the sound of the models is evaluated by experienced studio engineers and producers, people who know very well how a well-recorded amp should sound, something that is a different knowledge from what a guitar player has. We have to keep both worlds into consideration.
We make lots of measurements on the original amps, A/B comparisons, tests etc. Our DSP models and the real amps are really close one each other during the whole development of the DSP (all original amps from the whole AmpliTube line are proudly kept in house, and they will stay here for future reference).
The sound of the models are evaluated by experienced studio engineers and producers, people who know very well how a well-recorded amp should sound.

Black Robot - debut album
Black Robot are here and on this evidence here to stay! Its just pure class and Rock n Roll all the way!
With Jonathan Brightman spear heading with his ideas and badass bass on the album. The core section is finished off with Devon Glenn pounding drums all the way through. This allows Yogi to let his guitar flow with awesome rifts and solos. Then topping it of is Huck Johns with his powerful vocals. Yes three of these guys were the founding members of Buckcherry!
Black Robot has it all, awesome intros, powerful drums and bass, classic guitar rifts, solos and cracking lyrics! From the opening anthem of 'Baddass' with pounding guitar rift and catcher lyics it goes into a awesome cover of 'Cocaine'. Then carries on with a Aerosmith type song in 'Mamma dont cry', followed by a slow song in 'Im in love'. Which has a cracking solo and melody. The album carries rocking and then comes to the self title song 'Black Robot'. This is another rift based song which is quite bluesy. The album carries on with more classic rifts and pure rock! Bass and drums all the way. Then it comes to another slow song in 'Stop the world' another great melody and shows this guys can slow it down when they need to. Then it carries on with more rifts and finishes off with 'Nervous breakdown'. A cracking song to end you wanting more from Black Robot, it has it all in this song.
I’m glad JB and Huck got this together and we get to hear this. It's great having these three BC guys back together… So go get your copy now and its just BADDASS! They will be at the Roxy Theatre on August 8th for the debut concert - it be worth you going!

Spotlight: The Fifth
North Carolina rock band The Fifth has signed with EMG/Universal and will release their debut album Confessions of Man on July 28, 2009. The band has also signed an exclusive long-term management agreement with partners Ricky B. Rogers & Ray Ware of Nashville-based Fused Management, home to all-girl rock band Atomic Blonde, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Bob Carlisle and more.
"I am impressed with this band's commitment to their fans," states Ware. "They instinctively understand how to give their audience what they want." Rogers adds, "This band is poised to erupt nationally because they understand that rock n roll should remain first and foremost about fun."
The Fifth may be new to the national scene, but since 2001, the full-throttled foursome has tore up the North Carolina club circuit in support of two full-length independent CDs, plus a pair of EPs. And it was no surprise to their loyal fans when they started to appear in the national spotlight.
Millions of television viewers have heard the group's song "Even To This Day" on a recent "Grey's Anatomy" commercial, as well as two separate Dodge Ram commercials in which the band was featured. Add in a Monster Energy band partnership and opening slots for the likes of Nickelback, Hinder, Staind, Poison's CC DeVille, Crossfade, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Sevendust, Puddle of Mudd, Filter, Saliva, Hoobastank, Rev Theory and many more, and The Fifth is well on its way to being a household name.
"The culture of the band is what's special," injects front man Roy Cathey, who first found fame as leader of MCA act Cold Sweat. "Our hometown of Fayetteville is a military town, which means people come see us and then spread the word all over the country. We've worked our asses off for the past seven and a half years and we're damn lucky so many soldiers take our music with them wherever they go."
Adds bassist B-Man, "We've actually heard from guys who've gone over to Baghdad and spray painted The Fifth's logo over pictures of Saddam Hussein. They write and say how our music helped them get through the week, which is why we make sure when they come back to see a show, we give them the biggest bang we can."
Like the good old days of Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses and KISS, The Fifth is committed to an incendiary live show that thrives on the personalities of all the players. While so many of today's bands have become faceless and generic, this foursome packs plenty of charisma into an unrelenting electric upheaval.
"We pride ourselves as being a modern rock band, but we love the big shows of yesterday," confirms drummer Marc Anthony. "We have the sound of today, but with the connection of an old school rock show. Everyone lets themselves shine through on stage and you can tell we're all having a blast letting our identities come through."
Despite the larger than life personas, the guys' first priority when they hang up their instruments for the night is to meet their fans. Not only is The Fifth comprised of the most approachable guys in the music business, but they're committed to providing a sense of enjoyment and empowerment to everyone along the way.
"Everybody loves a good rock show," affirms Roy. "We write songs people identity with and that can help put a smile on someone's face, plus we throw a little sex, drugs, rock n' roll and any other bit of debauchery in for some extra fun."

Spotlight: Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats
Bombastic, funky, sexy and loud, Chad Smith (drummer of Red Hot Chili Peppers & Chickenfoot) is breaking out on his own with guitar star Jeff Kollman, multi-faceted keyboardist Ed Roth, and Motor City bass ace Kevin Chown. Together, they comprise what is easily one of the most interesting and unpredictable instrumental bands to come along in years; Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats. Their sound creates a cutting edge sonic experience with a plethora of influences, fusing together styles as diverse as classic rock, old school funk, punk, and 70's R&B.
The Meatbats sound is as uncalculated and spontaneous as their accidental beginnings, forged as an outgrowth of Jeff, Ed, and Chad's recording and touring with rock legend, Glenn Hughes. Kollman recalls, "Whenever I would jam with Ed and Chad at Glenn Hughes' rehearsals, we would warm up with some impromptu Jeff Beck kinds of grooves. One day Chad said, 'Hey, we should record something like this!' Next thing you know we were in the studio making an album!"
Nothing is ever the same way twice with the Meatbats. They stretch the envelope in their exhilarating live performances, often deviating from the original arrangements to keep things fresh. No one knows (even the band it seems at times) just where things may end up musically. Each performance becomes a unique experience enjoyed by the listener.
"My influences, through my brother, were so many of the groups that came out of England in the late 60's and early 70's," reflects Chad Smith. "Led Zeppelin's John Bonham, Ginger Baker from Cream, Deep Purple with Ian Pace, Queen's Roger Taylor, Keith Moon with the Who; those groups were the ones that I really loved. I wanted to play like those guys. When I started learning to read music in school during fourth grade, initially I held the sticks in the traditional grip. But, I remember practicing and thinking if I turned my left stick around I could get a lot more power and hit a lot harder. I like to hit hard. Hitting hard is very important for me - that's the way I play and the way I feel it. Playing guitar, that's all great and everything, but hittin' stuff…AWESOME!"
The Bombastic Meatbats debut album, Meet the Meatbats, speaks for itself. Consisting of 10 songs written in the span of a few days at Chad's pool house in Malibu, California (known as "The Tiki Room"), songs including "Need Strange," "Oops! I Spilled My Beer," "Battle For Ventura Blvd.," and the hauntingly beautiful "Night Sweats," exude a live wire feel, sarcasm, and excitement rarely found in the current world of digitally induced "perfection." It is instrumental music with a soul and a sense of humor.
"This was the least amount of time each of us has spent agonizing over a record," notes Kollman. "It's funky, musical, and compositional. The melody is king." "These recordings are very much live in the studio…it's totally old school that way," adds Ed Roth. "Nothing feels as good as a record cut with four guys recording live together, listening, and playing off of each other's riffs. Even without a vocal, you can sing almost everything that everyone played on this record. That is real soul."
Since their first live performance in 2007, the Meatbats have conquered Japan with a sold out tour and have thrilled audiences around the U.S., while also regularly performing at L.A.'s famed jazz venue, the Baked Potato. "This band has a thing!" insists Kollman. "You can tell Chown and Chad both did their time in Detroit. They come from the same place musically and geographically. They are the funky heartbeat of this group. Chown's a mix of Detroit Rock and Motown, while Chad brings that sick rock/funk groove that has helped sustain the Chili Peppers for all these years. Ed's got the gritty funk and 70's R&B thing going on. His clavinet playing is genius and he's so great with leaving space in the arrangements. He has taste, knows just what to play, and his life goal is always 'keeping it sexy.' As for myself, I protect and defend the rock guitar!"
Look for Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats to inspire a new generation of instrumental music fans. Their debut CD, "Meet the Meatbats," will be in stores and iTunes on September 15, 2009, released by Warrior Records via Universal Music Group Distribution. For further information and upcoming tour dates visit Bombastic Meatbats.

D.O.A to Release "The Men of Action" 30th Anniversary DVD
Sudden Death Records and MVD Visual are pleased to announce the release of D.O.A "The Men of Action" 30th Anniversary DVD for worldwide distribution on August 11, 2009.
D.O.A., Canada's legendary punks and the progenitors of hardcore punk, have produced an extraordinary DVD that covers the band's 30 year career. It's an essential collection of songs and punk/activist stories.
The DVD consists of 26 songs, 10 that the band produced storyline videos for and 16 that are live productions. There are two ways to view the DVD: "Chaos Program" features the music videos only, while "Anarchy Program" features Joe Shithead Keithley, Canada's godfather of punk, telling the story of D.O.A. and punk in general as the videos play.
The anniversary DVD package also includes as a bonus, D.O.A.'s critically acclaimed new album Northern Avenger, produced by the legendary Bob Rock. The album has received rave reviews around the world. Also included is a 12-page booklet that includes rare photos of D.O.A. On the DVD itself, included are some hilarious hidden tracks.
Track Listing: D.O.A., Disco Sucks, World War 3, New Age, Get Out Of My Life, Last Night, War, 001 Loser's Club, Fuck You, I'm Right, You're Wrong, America The Beautiful, Liar For Hire, General Strike, Fucked Up Ronnie, Lumberjack City, Midnight Special, The Warrior Lives Again, Let's Wreck The Party, 2+2, The Prisoner, Behind The Smile, Death Machine, I See Your Cross, We're Drivin' To Hell N' Back, Police Brutality, and Human Bomb.
In other news, D.O.A. have just released the first video from their new album Northern Avenger. When D.O.A. leader Joe Keithley was finishing writing the songs for Northern Avenger, Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski was unnecessarily tasered five times by the R.C.M.P. at the Vancouver Airport and died as a result of that callous action. The song and the video Police Brutality are D.O.A.'s reaction to that brutal act.
The hardcore kings D.O.A. have two short tours this summer. See the men of action in Germany, Holland and California in July and August. At the Force Attack Festival in Rostock, Germany, D.O.A. is one of the headliners at Europe's biggest punk festival. So make sure you are following both Rossdale and his label Interscope Records on Twitter now. Every question answered will get full credit so make sure you ask some good ones!
The ex-Bush frontman is taking a break from touring in support of his latest solo album Wanderlust and there is talk of going back out in the fall.
SPOTLIGHT: THE BIG HEAVY
The Big Heavy, hailing from a city already known for birthing some legendary bands, this Boston quintet is sure to be no different. With such powerful songs that will no doubt get deep into your soul, it is no wonder they are packing places all over the northeastern corner of the country. They are they winners of a placement in the top ten in all of New England, only to then move on and place 1st in the semi-finals of the Bodog battle of the bands contest.
There is a slightly southern rock feel to the title song Bombs Away. While Red Sky slips into a little of that Seattle sound and was even featured in the movie "Bring It On 4: In It To Win". Body Shines, is the ballad, if you must call it that, on the 4 song EP. Every bit of a love song, but yet still a rock song when it comes to the chorus. Personally, I can see Midnight Waters being a huge hit, especially if we are talking radio play success. The song as a thickness to it keeping you in and giving you something to get your groove on to.
If you get the chance to catch them live, I would be sure to not miss out. I cant wait for them to expand their wings a bit further, and if all their Twitter followers and MySpace friends are any indication, I hope it wont be much longer. There is definatley a buzz about them going around. Until then, make sure you pick up a copy of The Big Heavy Bombs Away EP.

Ben Slattery ~ Rhythm Guitar
Dan Perlman ~ Lead Guitar
Matt Karasch ~ Bass / Backup vocals

Spotlight: Suicide CIty
SUICIDE CITY was first conceived when Biohazard vocalist/guitarist Billy Graziadei met Karl Bernholtz, vocalist of the south Florida band The Groovenics. The pair was joined by drummer Danny Lamagna, who had been recommended by members of Sworn Enemy. Soon after, Groovenics guitarist AJ Marchetta was added to the fold, and the lineup was finally rounded out by former Kittie bassist Jennifer Arroyo.
Not the type of band to just wait around for things to happen, SUICIDE CITY self-released an EP, ‘Not My Year,’ in 2005 and has since managed to sell over 7,000 copies sans label support. That year they also saw success in the form of a “Best Unsigned Band” award from East Coast Romper. In 2006 Kerrang! called them “a mesmerizing presence” and said that they had “manic wide eyed energy.” They have also self-produced and released a live DVD, entitled ‘Live From CBGB.’
The band has reputation for consistent and energetic touring, having spent time on the road with the likes of Otep, Taking Back Sunday, Gwar, Danzig, Life of Agony, Birthday Massacre, Mindless Self Indulgence, Despairs Ray, MXPX, Mushroomhead, and others.
Although the individual band members come from wildly different backgrounds, they all share a common passion for music and an unfaltering loyalty to SUICIDE CITY. As Arroyo says, “Suicide City inspires to me to reach new levels of sound and emotion.” Graziadei describes SUICIDE CITY’s sound as “punk rock, dirty rock ‘n roll with some big balls of metal and a touch of manic depression thrown in.” Lamagna’s precise percussion fury adds to the speed and aggression of the band’s sound, but is reigned in when a more melodic sound is required. The layers of Marchetta’s and Graziadei’s guitars succeed in laying down an aggressive onslaught as well as some impressive and unexpected melody while Arroyo’s bass holds down the low end of the party. Bernholtz vocalizes emotional poetry masterfully, and more than matches the music’s energy.
On August 4th, SUICIDE CITY releases their debut full-length effort, entitled ‘Frenzy,’ via Brooklyn label THE END RECORDS. “‘Frenzy’ is such an eclectic blend of music,” says Marchetta. “This band is unafraid and unapologetic about what we create, and because of that we have an album with a really wide musical landscape.” Graziadei points out, “In our short time together, Suicide City has achieved more on our own than most bands do in their whole career with the help of a label.” Perhaps Bernholtz sums it up best: “Suicide City thrives on making people happy and smile through our music without having to candy coat anything. Life does not ‘suck and then you die.’ Life is great, dangerous, exciting, strange, and then you die. I guess that’s what we’re trying to portray with our music.”
SUICIDE CITY is:
Kalle Bernholtz - Vocals
Jennifer "Ms.JennCity" Arroyo - Bass, Vocals
Billy Graziadei - Guitar, Keyboard, Vocals
A.J. Marchetta - Guitar
Dan Lamagna - Drums

DiskFaktory.com Launches Music Sponsorship Network Enabling Virtually Free CD Copies for Musicians
IDT Media Group, http://www.idtmediagroup.com, and DiskFaktory, http://www.diskfaktory.com, launch the Music Sponsorship Network, http://www.musicsponsor.net, for Indie musicians. In another bold move to add to their already vast array of A to Z artist services for Indie musicians and artists, DiskFaktory's new Music Sponsorship Network brings together the music of independent artists and commercial sponsors.
The concept is simple. Once an artist completes the registration and submission process at Music Sponsorship Network, a match, as determined by certain criteria, between the Indie musician's content, and a sponsor, is made if available. Once approved, the sponsor will fund the cost of CD duplication or CD replication for the musician and in return the sponsor will get certain reserved printed ad space in the CD artwork. Once the CDs are made, the CDs are shipped to the musician and they get their CDs to distribute without it costing them a dime.
Indie musicians, especially in today's hard economic times, generally have a very tight budget when it comes to supporting the expense of their craft. Music Sponsorship Network, or MSN for short, directly addresses this challenge by providing a method through which musicians have a chance to get copies of their original music made without shelling out a lot of cash.
Essentially the musician will receive at least 100 CD copies of their album for free in fully decked out jewel cases with artwork to sell and pocket 100% of the money. This way they can sell their CDs at any price they feel like and it is all profit for the musician, or they can just give them away. It's their choice. The CDs will also include DiskFaktory's MFA TM interactive technology with great features to help the artist further build their fan base. To learn more about MFA interactive technology, go to the DiskFaktory website.
The sponsors benefit by being able to laser target their advertising to a specific demographic based on the profile information of the artist. All the artist has to do is distribute the CDs, either by giving them away or selling them, so that the advertisers messages continue to be viewed. What's more, for the advertisers, their ad stays with that CD for as long as it exists. It truly is a win-win proposition.
As an added incentive to musicians, for a limited time, musicians that complete the registration and submission process with Music Sponsorship Network will get their music submitted to iTunes for digital music distribution at no charge.
Soon to come additions to the MSN after your CD reproduction sponsorship will be the sponsorship of your local and national live events and more. For more information, go to the Music Sponsorship Network to read about the program and watch their information video.
Since 1996, DiskFaktory.com, a company founded by Indie musicians for Indie musicians has been offering a continually expanding suite of artist services for Indie music reproduction, distribution and promotion.

The 69 Eyes: New Album Out September 15th!
THE 69 EYES return with their ninth studio album, which has been hailed a latter-day ‘Appetite For Destruction’. With blood on their hands and AC/DC on their stereo, the bloodsuckers have combined their past to focus on the future. Turning their back on the comic book glam of ‘Angels’, The Eyes have opened a heavier chapter in their musical career. For the first time this decade, honorary sixth vampire Johnny Lee Michaels has been granted temporary leave from the batcave and Matt Hyde (Slayer/Monster Magnet) has been invited over the threshold to produce the record.
“He’s cleaned the table and dusted the skeletons!” singer Jyrki 69 laughs. “It’s like when Rick Rubin helped The Cult discover them on ‘Electric’ - we made a similar spiritual journey with Matt.”
Once again THE 69 EYES have their finger on the pulse of darkness with 12 goth ‘n’ roll anthems guaranteed to rock the crypt. “Unsurprisingly, the main inspiration for the album came from the vampire realm,” Jyrki explains. “We haven’t made a concept album but nearly all the songs have something to do with the undead or at least horror as a genre.” Delving into his movie collection, the singer focused on Jean Rollin’s erotic French flick ‘Lips Of Blood’, ‘The Hunger’ and the modern-day opus ‘Night Watch’. “It’s almost like vampires are taking over the world!” he muses referring to the current ‘Twilight’ mania.
The album opens with title track ‘Back In Blood’, which is a fast-paced wake-up call to the vampire king who’s been asleep for centuries and is now ready to rock. Blood is the new black and it’s never tasted this good: “2000 years – now, baby I’m back!” he sings, licking his lips. Jyrki describes the song as: “More Mötley than Mercy but with a Crüe made of Sisters.” The bloodthirsty swansong is an intimate piano and acoustic guitar-driven ballad called ‘Eternal’, performed as only a half-rotten Vampire Lestat could on a sultry southern night...
The first single will be the tongue-in-cheek ‘Dead Girls Are Easy’ – a nasty power anthem for sleazy pin-ups complete with a sing-a-long chorus aimed at those online chicks with the looks that kill! The video will be directed by MTV superstar and close friend Bam Margera, who was also responsible for the Eyes’ rock homage to ‘80s cult movie ‘The Lost Boys’.
Matt Hyde’s ultra-tight production has brought the danger back to THE 69 EYES’ sound. The producer reveals: “I’ve tried to feature the guitars, drums and vocals - the core sound of the band. I wanted them to rock and I wanted less emphasis on outside orchestration and keyboards with more real power and emotion through the performance itself.”
But it’s not just danger that Matt’s unleashed – he shares the same passion for horror and comics as Jyrki and the results of their marathon viewing sessions have seeped through onto disc. “We watched at least three movies every night while recording the vocals,” the frontman reveals. “We soon exhausted Matt’s DVD collection so we started renting everything we hadn’t seen from his local rental store. Once we’d got through everything they had there, we bought more and more and he’s now got a nice collection classic British Hammer films, cool 60s biker movies and vampire classics. Afterall, we couldn’t have made a record like this without Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee watching over our shoulder!”
The artwork has been designed by Estevan Oriol, whose work has graced countless covers from Cypress Hill to The Transplants and Snoop Dogg. “I’ve been a fan of his iconic images for years – he’s like a present-day Andy Warhol. I’m so happy that he agreed to work with us because it’s given this record a real ‘made in LA’ stamp.”
Recording ‘Back in Blood’ in Hollywood also put THE 69 EYES in a prime location for well-known visitors. Brides Of Destruction’s London LeGrand and Care Failure from Die Mannequin are among the familiar names listed on the credits. But this isn’t just a party album; it’s a great rock record… and if you’re into vampires, you’ll enjoy it even more!
“We’ve worked so hard over the last two years since ‘Angels’ was released,” says Jyrki. “We played around 125 shows worldwide but all our sacrifices paved the way for the birth of this baby. ‘Back In Blood’ is a culmination of 20 years worth of hard work.”
If you want blood, you’ve got it!
'Back in Blood' Tracklisting: 1. Back In Blood 2. We Own The Night 3. Dead N' Gone 4. The Good, The Bad & The Undead 5. Kiss Me Undead 6. Lips Of Blood 7. Dead Girls Are Easy 8. Night Watch 9. Some Kind Of Magick 10. Hunger 11. Suspiria Snow White 12. Eternal

Famous Concert Pianist Teaches the World to Play
World renowned virtuoso concert pianist Jeffrey Biegel uses latest technology to reach out to piano students around the world. Biegel is a popular concert pianist, composer, and a distinguished Professor of Piano at Brooklyn College in New York. He is a protege of the legendary teacher, Adele Marcus at The Juilliard School. No stranger to the Internet, Biegel created and performed the first live audio/video concerts on the Internet in 1997. Even way back then (ancient by Internet standards) he considered using the Internet for teaching, but it would be more than ten years before high speed connections and audio/video technology would catch up enough to make it work.
Although you can find lessons on the Web for just about anything you can imagine (and some you can't), most are in the form of canned presentations. They are typically just a bunch of videos you watch or download, a "one size fits all" solution.
Up until now, studying with a pianist/teacher of Biegel's caliber meant catching him between concerts, and traveling to his studio in New York. It is rare to find actual live interactive lessons online, rarer still to find live interactive piano lessons with a top notch concert pianist. Now, thanks to high speed Internet connections, inexpensive web cams, and the free services of Skype, it's possible to teach students and teachers from around the world. Biegel has already successfully used this method to teach lessons in such diverse locations as Virginia (U.S.) and Singapore. Students claim it works great, almost like being there in person.
Contrary to what you might think, it is possible to hear all the nuances of the students performance, including the "sound" they are producing. It's also not a problem to see their technique (fingering, arm position, wrist and elbow positioning, etc.). While nobody expects the traditional method of in person piano lessons to be replaced anytime soon, the ability to offer live lessons and coaching to students, performers, and teachers anywhere in the world is nothing short of revolutionary.
It means pianist preparing for a recital, competition, or concerto appearance can now take advantage of live one on one instructions from one of the worlds finest concert pianist. It also gives teachers the opportunity to improve their own playing and expand their repertoire, in order to improve their own teaching.
So, where does a piano teacher draw his or her international students from? In Biegel's case, they find him through his web site ( www.JeffreyBiegel.com ) and from his posts on the World Famous Piano Forums at Piano World ( www.PianoWorld.com/forum/ ). Where else? Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, all the usual suspects.
Through the wonders of technology, you no longer have to fly, drive, take a train, or a bus to the teacher's studio. All you need is a computer with a high speed connection, a web cam, and a free Skype account. Of course, you still need to have a piano, and you're still going to have to practice. Sorry, we haven't come That far yet :-)

Used Premiere New Video On MySpace
The Used have announced the video premiere of their new song “Blood On My Hands.” The special Band Cut will debut today exclusively on MySpace. “Blood On My Hands” is the first single off the Orem, Utah band’s new album Artwork, which will be released on Reprise Records on September 1, 2009.
The video, directed by Lisa Mann, was shot at LindaVista Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, and is centered on the narrative of front man Bert McCracken’s obsession with a serial killer in a small town. Intercut with performance, the twisting narrative follows Bert’s increasing rage as he tracks the killer…or maybe a victim…and the line between hunter and hunted becomes blurred.
Starting today, MySpace and TheUsed.net will be exclusively streaming the Band Cut of the “Blood On My Hands” video, which features extra scenes and is unwavering in its intensity. The song itself, which guitarist Quinn Allman describes as the song that “sums up everything about The Used,” is confined chaos, brutally thrashing one moment and proffering a pop-driven, sing-along chorus the next. It premiered on iTunes June 30th and sold over 5k downloads in the first day and over 12k in the first week, the highest digital debut ever for the band.

THE USED ANNOUNCE ‘ARTWORK’ SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION PACKAGE
The Used have announced a limited-edition preorder of their new album Artwork. The exclusive package, of which only 3000 were made, will be available starting today, July 21, 2009 exclusively on www.theused.net. Artwork will be released on Reprise Records on September 1, 2009.
The CD/DVD package contains the full Artwork album, a DVD with behind the scenes footage, a 20-page expanded booklet, an exclusive Artwork t-shirt and a limited edition signed 18x24 band poster. It also includes two never before heard exclusive b-sides: “In A Needle” and “On the Cross (Save Yourself Mix).” The tracks will be digitally delivered on August 25th.
Produced by Matt Squire, Artwork is a raw collection of eleven songs that not so delicately teeter the line between being aggressively discordant and charmingly hooky. “This record is more sincere,” guitarist Quinn Allman says. “It’s got a sound more reminiscent of the first record. Lyrically, it completely engulfs you and makes you feel safe but it’s all about feeling alone and empty and knowing there’s always a light. If you’re frustrated that much it means you care that much. The music isn’t showing off. It’s just being what it is. I think the fans will appreciate all that.”
The Used Artwork limited edition preorder package can be purchased for $34.99 only at:

Legendary Guitarist STEVE VAI Set To Release Live Concert
Guitar legend Steve Vai will release his concert film and live CD Where The Wild Things Are September 29th, 2009 on Favored Nations Records. The show was recorded and filmed at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN before a sold-out audience as part of Vai’s successful Sound Theories world tour.
Visit http://favorednations.com/wtwta-preview to view the concert trailer.
Where The Wild Things Are is Vai’s 21st solo project contributing to his 20,000,000 unit worldwide sales that have accumulated over his 30 year career. Vai chose the State Theatre to film because of its large, lush acoustics and the historical theatre’s gorgeous interior.
Vai is widely known for both his unprecedented guitar playing techniques and the unique design of his signature series Ibanez Jem guitar. But his fans have become inextricably drawn to his melodic depth, and dynamic stage performance. The continued evolution of his craft is made apparent in the astonishing musicianship presented in Where The Wild Things Are.
The 2 hour and 40 minute set contains several new tracks and re-orchestrated pieces culled from his rich catalog. His guitar-wielding extravaganza in “The Murder” is an artistic performance piece that must be seen to be believed.
The addition of virtuoso violinists Alex DePue and Ann Marie Calhoun add a dazzling dimension to Vai’s compositions and stage show, delivering fans the unexpected edge they always expect. Other world-class musicians chosen for Vai’s band are: Bryan Beller (bass), Jeremy Colson (drums), Dave Weiner (guitar and sitar) and Zack Wiesinger (lap steel).
“When I put a band and a show together I try to create an entertainment experience that I would like to have if I was sitting in the audience,” explains Vai. “I like to witness great musicianship but nothing too cerebral or overindulgent, I like to be stimulated by a large dynamic range of emotional intensities and melodic richness, I enjoy when people love their instrument and it shows by their oneness with it, I like to feel as though I'm part of a family with the audience and the band, and I like to walk away feeling uplifted and not beat up by somebody's ego or the things they hate about themselves and the world. And of course I want a cool t-shirt.”

As Australia's most charismatic frontman, Younger has taken The New Christs on a journey that has lasted for parts of 29 years. Records, tours, and different members have all come and gone for The New Christs, but fans can rest assured because with a new LP comes another European tour in the coming months.

Taylor Guitars Offers Tips to Keep Your Guitar Safe When Flying
To address the hazards commercial airlines pose to travelling with a guitar, Taylor Guitars is here to offer tips and tricks to keep your guitar safe as you travel (read PDF). While the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) came to an agreement to allow guitars to be considered as carry-on luggage in 2003, thousands of musicians can relate a personal tale of instrument mistreatment at the hands of any number of airlines.
With advice from the AFM, here's a few tips Taylor Guitars recommends:
Know the pertinent policies of the airline on which you are traveling. There are links to many of them on the AFM website, so print them out and take them with you. Many flight attendants do not know their own airline's policy regarding carry-on guitars, so if you can calmly explain that your instrument is within their mandated guidelines, and actually show them those guidelines, you will be way ahead of the game.
Know your instrument's size in linear inches, which is the sum of your case's dimensions. If, for example, your case measures 20 inches long by 20 inches wide by 10 inches high, it would be 50 linear inches. Almost all airline maximum size dimensions use either Length-by-Width-by-Height, or linear inches. In many cases, even though your instrument case does not fit in the "size wise" metal contraption at the gate, it might well be within the linear-inch maximum. Again, know the linear inch measurement of your case beforehand.
Carry a "fabric" tape measure with you. Even if you never use it, sewing-type tape measure takes up almost no space and weighs almost nothing. And it might just come in handy if you're challenged about your case dimensions.
If you would like additional tips and information from the AFM on keeping your instrument safe, please visit: http://www.afm.org/departments/legislative-office/instruments-as-carry-on.

Chicago-Area Startup Launches First-Ever "Pay-Per-Listen" Music Website
Executives of JamBuzzer.com, a Warrenville, Ill.-based technology start-up, today announced the launch of AdJams, a novel online music marketing service that enables both artists and fans to share music-generated revenue and profits.
"AdJams paves the way for a revitalized global music industry that will provide fans with free access to a huge selection of high quality songs by thousands of talented artists," said JamBuzzer.com president Aaron Bradley.
"A novel economic model based on a music currency called the JamDollar (j$) will, in essence, enable listeners to obtain free music," said Bradley. "Fans will be able to 'earn' their music, without cash, while artists will realize increased opportunity for a lucrative music career doing what they love," he said.
For artists or, "Jammers," the service will help create direct access to a vast new audience of online music buyers and fans. For fans or, "Buzzers," AdJams potentially will provide access to a steady stream of new songs performed by a broad range of talented artists.
"It also will provide 'Buzzers' with a less costly alternative to traditional music downloads, mp-3 and CD purchases," Bradley added.
Bradley said that for a modest fee, currently as low as $5, "Jammers" can initiate a campaign on jambuzzer.com to introduce a new song to a worldwide online audience of music buyers who will have the opportunity to purchase the Jammer's song.
Each campaign invites "Buzzers" to listen to an artist's entire song and provide a minimum level of feedback on the song for the artist. In return for listening and commenting, "Buzzers" are paid "JamDollars" that, in turn, can be used to purchase downloads of songs by JamBuzzer.com artists, or convert to cash.
"We envision participation from others, including digital music stores, concert promoters, and major music subscription services to enable our users to purchase music downloads, concert tickets, and join music services using their JamDollars" said Bradley.
"This is a groundbreaking concept that has the potential to forever change the way music is bought, sold and delivered. JamBuzzer is revolutionary in its ability to connect listeners and musicians. It has a straight forward user interface that combines music and social networking with the ability to adapt to the changing climate of the music industry due to the digital revolution," said Stonecutter Records President & 20+ year veteran Grammy Nominated engineer/producer Chris Steinmetz, who is also currently a user of the site.
About JamBuzzer:
JamBuzzer is an Internet music technology company located in Warrenville, Ill. JamBuzzer.com serves as the launching platform of a number of new and innovative virtual music marketing technologies, as well as new profit models to revolutionize the current music industry.
JamBuzzer.com, the JamDollar, and AdJams (PPL) comprise the foundation of a new music industry that empowers music fans, known as "Buzzers," to broaden the availability of quality music in all genres while providing artists, known as "Jammers," with opportunities to reach fans and music buyers.

Bleeding Through & Rise Records Join Forces
The Southern California based band, who celebrates their 10 Year Anniversary next month with a West Coast tour, is proud to announce their alliance with Rise Records, the Portland based independent record label.
"We're very excited to align with a record label that has so much momentum and is growing when many seem to be faltering, dropping bands and firing employees," said frontman Brandan Schieppati. "Rise continues to grow. We've been a band for a decade and we wanted to be with someone who is enthusiastic about Bleeding Through and is in a position to help us continue to grow and progress as well."
Rise Records president Craig Ericson had this to say about the signing. "We are beyond excited to work with Bleeding Through. We've been huge fans ever since their release on Indecision Records. Having Bleeding Through in the family is a dream come true. We both share extreme passion for music and can't wait to show the world what we can achieve together as a team."
Brandan adds, "A lot of labels, managers and agents carry these egos as if they are the most important part of the equation. It's all about what the bands can do for them, to advance their interests, instead of the other way around. We had a lot of serious interest from several labels, many of whom we get along with. But we felt like Rise is the best fit for us because they are excited about our band and our music first and foremost."
Bleeding Through has sold over a quarter million records around the world over the course of their career. This is Love, This is Murderous (2003), The Truth (2006) and last year's uncompromising Declaration have propelled the hard-working band from the hardcore underground to the worldwide stage. They've taken part in Ozzfest (twice), MTV's Headbanger's Ball: The Tour and Vans Warped Tour. They've toured with bands like Slayer, Marilyn Manson, HIM, AFI, Bullet For My Valentine and Senses Fail across North America, Europe, Australia, South America and Southeast Asia.
Bleeding Through has been featured on the covers of Revolver, Outburn,Metal Edge and Chord Magazine and racked up critical acclaim and support from countless other publications as well, including Billboard, Metal Hammer and Kerrang!. Bleeding Through is cited as an influence by many in today's scene while still remaining ferociously relevant.
Bleeding Through plays three shows in Mexico this weekend. Next month, they will embark on their BLK, END FASHION Clothing sponsored 10 Year Anniversary Tour, with Carnifex, Miss May I and Motionless In White in tow.
Bleeding Through tentatively plans to record the followup to Declaration in early 2010.

Opening the show for Limp Bizkit, Fred Durst is proud to present his life-long friend and new Flawless Records artist DJ Boney B, who hails from North Carolina and has pioneered his own brand of lifestyle in music. DJ Boney B has developed a rabid following in the national underground scene, developing a community of listeners who are anxious to see him go to the next level. DJ Boney B is preparing a special set for this show that will pay homage to LB and its community, and he is excited to become part of the Flawless family.
Limp Bizkit are in the middle off their 2009 “Unicorns N Rainbows” tour, which has so far rolled across Europe and Eastern Europe, wowing Bizkit-starved fans in 20 countries. Of their explosive June 12th show at the UK’s Download Festival, one reviewer noted: “Within seconds, the staccato riff of ‘Break Stuff’ had regressed everyone to a screaming teen” and that “every song provoked roars of approval, every line of ‘Nookie’ belted out as if the crowd had written it.” Heavy-music bible Kerrang! anointed Limp Bizkit with their April cover.
Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal are gearing up to record their first new studio album with the original line-up since 2000's worldwide 12x-platinum Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. As Durst recently told the NME: "I'm having a great feeling about going in and doing our record, more than I have about any of our albums before. It's not going to be a watered-down version of Limp Bizkit , it's going to be a more explosive, more addictive, more driven version of Limp Bizkit ."
Flip/Interscope Records will announce more details and a release date in the coming months. The band's first three albums have sold more than 20 million copies in the U.S. alone, and another 13 million in the rest of the world.

Crue Fest 2 Announces Second Stage Line-Up
REV THEORY, CAVO, SHRAM AND 16 SECOND STARE ADDED TO CRUE FEST 2 ON THE MONSTER ENERGY STAGE
LOCAL BAND TO BE CHOSEN TO PERFORM IN SELECT MARKETS ON CRUE FEST 2's MONSTER ENERGY STAGE
Crue Fest 2 announced a partnership with Monster Energy to add an additional stage at most dates on this year's festival. The new Monster Energy Stage doubles the entertainment value at Crue Fest 2 with five additional bands - Rev Theory, Cavo, Shram and 16 Second Stare plus one band chosen locally in select markets, showcasing the next generation of rock. With no change in ticket prices, rock fans will now see ten great rock bands for the price of one. For the cost of a Motley Crue concert, fans will see a day long rock festival with Motley as the headliners. Crue Fest 2 kicks off in Camden, NJ on July 19th with tickets available now at www.LiveNation.com.
Crue Fest 2 stars Motley Crue with Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and introduces Charm City Devils. The performances on the Monster Energy Stage will be staggered between the main stage acts creating a non-stop music event and adding to the overall festival atmosphere.
"It's always been in our hearts to turn our fans onto new rock music. Another stage seems to be just what the doctor ordered for Crue Fest 2 and gives loyal Crue and rock fans more for their hard earned money. See ya there," said Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Tommy Lee.
Mötley Crüe manager Allen Kovac notes, "Motley Crue has always added value for their fans whether it be through their music, their merchandise or their stage production, it has served them well in their career."
Local radio stations will chose the opening band in select tour markets where the Monster Energy Stage will play. For more information about each local area contest and the chance to open the Monster Energy Stage, including how to enter, please visit www.cruefest2.com.
Monster Energy has dedicated its brand to live music over the years as part of major National and International festivals, specialty concert tours and substantial one-offs, in both core sponsor and associate sponsor categories utilizing on-site activation through multiple avenues. The partnership with Crue Fest 2 marks the first time Monster Energy will have a mobile stage dedicated entirely to their brand.
Monster Energy Stage will create a unique online community offering exclusive content from Crue Fest 2 acts, in addition to the local bands. To kick off this opportunity, the anthem of Crue Fest 2, Charm City Devils' "Let's Rock-N-Roll," will be available as a free download. The new site is set to launch soon, visit www.monsterenergy.com for details.
"Motley Crue is such an iconic band with the most loyal fans in the world. In a time where it seems everything is being cut back, Motley Crue is giving more to its fans and at the same time giving up and coming bands exposure. Monster Energy is proud to be a part of the havoc that will be wreaked across the nation this summer," says Brent Hamilton of Monster Energy.
The Monster Second Stage will not travel to Minot, ND, Portland, OR, Las Vegas, NV, Kansas City, MO and Syracuse, NY.
About Crue Fest 2:
The main stage at the Live Nation produced Crüe Fest 2 stars Motley Crue with Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and introduces Charm City Devils. The sequel to last summer's most successful touring festival begins its North American trek in Camden, NJ on July 19th and comes to an end on September 5th in Darien Lake, NY. As a tribute to releasing a 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition of Dr. Feelgood earlier this year, Motley Crue will be performing the entire album front to back at this year's festival in addition to their hits.
About Rev Theory:
New York City's Rev Theory released their sophomore album, Light It Up, in June 2008. A joint venture between Interscope Records and Brian Howes' Van Howes label, Light It Up features production from Howe (Hinder, Chris Daughtry) as well as Josh Abraham (Linkin Park, Velvet Revolver) and included Rock radio hit "Hell Yeah." The set follows 2005's Truth is Currency, which got Rev Theory on the road opening for the likes of Evanescence, Papa Roach, Buckcherry and Saliva. No strangers to the road, the band also toured with Flyleaf and Seether with the release of their second album and joined last Fall's Jagermeister tour alongside Hinder and Crüe Fest veterans, Trapt.
About Cavo:
The current line-up of Cavo features Chris Hobbs on guitar, Chad La Roy on drums, Brian Smith on bass and Casey Walker on vocals. Their debut album Bright Nights Dark Days, which features their hit "Champagne", is set for an August 11 release date on Reprise Records. Their album will feature songs like the propulsive first single "Champagne"(now on over 125 radio stations across the US), the uplifting power ballad "Let It Go," the blistering "Cry Wolf," and the strutting "Blame." Bright Nights Dark Days is a passionately played collection of hard-hitting rock and roll with keenly felt lyrics about life, love, and the acceptance that comes with realizing that all we can do is to try and be the best person we can for those we love.
About Shram:
Detroit rock trio Shram are Brian Shram (Uncle Kracker) on guitars/vocals, 14 year old Jason Hartless on drums and Dave Dion on bass/vocals. They've been described as having a raw sound with crushing guitars and punchy pop vocal hooks that define the true nature of rock n' roll. The band released Disturbing The Peace in 2008 and have developed a devoted following that continues to grow.
About 16 Second Stare:
Tampa, FL based rockers 16 Second Stare (www.16secondstare.com) working with veteran producer/mixer Jeff Tomei (Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, and Jerry Cantrell), released their debut album "Red Carpet Material" in July 2009 through Mighty Loud Entertainment/Universa/Fontana. In April 2009, Clear Channel Online gave the band the honored title of "Artist To Watch." This past year, they've amped up their live performance itinerary to include performances in L.A., NYC, Tucson, El Paso and South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin. In May, the band was part of the "16 Second Stare Gets Head Tour '09" with Brian "Head" Welch, the former lead guitarist of Korn. 16 Second Stare just announced that they will be performing at this year's 2009 California Bike Week leading up to Love Ride 26 (www.loveride.org) on Saturday, October 24. The band is currently working on their highly anticipated sophomore album with new tracks titled "Misery", "Amazing Grace", "Eargazm", "Complicated" and "Fire in the Hole."

Rock News,
CELEBRATE THE 17 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MxPx
Today marks the 17 year anniversary to the day that the rock juggernaut that is MxPx performed their very first show in the backyard of Mike Herrera’s childhood home in Bremerton, WA. In that very suburban spot, they created a recording studio out of the free-standing garage, and The Clubhouse was born. It has become a memorable and historic location for the band, which is why they have chosen, on this anniversary, to bring it back home, literally, and perform a “best of” set list live for their fans!
MxPx has teamed up with Stickam.com to bring their fans to one online location on Wednesday, July 8, for a full band performance. The performance will be a true fan experience with the band performing and doing an open Q&A throughout their set for all fans to take part in. Fans can log onto www.stickam.com/mxpx, starting Wednesday, July 8 at 5:30 pm PST/8:30 pm EST, with the live set kicking off at 6 pm PST/9 pm EST. Always wanting to have fans involved, in conjunction with the live performance, the band has teamed up with pickRset.com starting Monday, July 6, fans can log onto www.pickrset.com/bands/mxpx as well as MxPx’s official website and social networking sites (listed below) to vote, actually hand-picking the bands “best of” set list for the Wednesday show. Fans will have up until the morning of the performance to choose their favorite MxPx songs for the performance.
With bands sprouting up left and right, longevity is an attribute found in few and far between within today’s society. With that in mind, on thoughts of whether the band believed they would be together this long, front man Mike Herrera says, “I never thought about it too much, although, sometimes it feels like an endurance test... how long will we last?” According to the faithful, MxPx has more than passed the test. And what news fans probably don’t realize, drummer Yuri Ruley responds simply as “I've spent over half my life in MxPx. Let that blow your mind a little!”
Over the years many memorable performances and moments come to mind, but Mike recalls the 2000 Warped Tour as one, where the band played right through a huge rainstorm with a hardly a single fan leaving to seek shelter during the set. Guitarist Tom Wisniewski cherishes the opportunity MxPx had to open for Joe Strummer in 1999 at the Fillmore in San Francisco, “We didn't play any better than normal, but getting to share the stage with a legend was
truly an honor.” Yuri recalls their first show in Brazil as a favorite. “It was insane. I was so taken aback by how good it was that I kinda had what I can only describe as an "out of body" experience. I was sort of floating above myself, playing, yet also observing.”
Cherishing 17 years together, returning to The Clubhouse for this anniversary show is, as the band states, a huge honor in itself, even though it’s Mike’s house to begin with. This was where the band’s early works, specifically Renaissance EP and Panic, were developed and recorded. The band is also paying homage to the fans and the
city they love, Bremerton, WA, where they do in fact have a key to the city, a huge accomplishment and honor
for anyone.
As to the future, the band has some definite thoughts on what, and where, they would like to go. Mike thinks playing a concert in Africa would be wild, and Tom wants, “to play a USO show in Iraq (or wherever they wanna send us) for the troops. It'd be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Besides, who doesn't wanna ride in a Blackhawk Helicopter?” Always open to new opportunities, the band recently visited China for the first time and Israel for the first time last year. Whatever lies ahead the band is ready – a new cover album, On The Cover II, is out now through Tooth & Nail Records, in the studio working on a new EP, readying the release of a Christmas album later this year and more yet to be unveiled. As the momentum continues and as the band continues to create, tour and impact music fans worldwide, why change the formula? MxPx are in it for the long haul!

THE USED TO RELEASE BRAND-NEW STUDIO ALBUM
Utah’s The Used, who have been tantalizing fans by previewing new songs during the Bamboozle and Bamboozle Left Festivals and during recent headlining dates, are proud to announce the release of their fourth studio album, entitled Artwork, on September 1, 2009. Starting July 21st a deluxe pre-order package of the release will be available only at http://www.theused.net/.
Produced by Matt Squire, Artwork is a raw collection of eleven songs that not so delicately teeter the line between being aggressively discordant and charmingly hooky. The first single, “Blood On My Hands” premiered June 30th; it sold over five thousand copies in the first day and shot to #9 on the iTunes Alternative Chart. The track, which guitarist Quinn Allman describes as the song that “sums up everything about The Used” hits radio July 14th.
“Blood On My Hands” is confined chaos, brutally thrashing one moment and proffering a pop-driven, sing-along chorus the next. “Empty With You,” a track frontman Bert McCracken says is “about feeling empty and lonely but as long as you have someone who can feel lonely with you then everything’s okay,” surges with passion and gripping honesty, while “Kissing You Goodbye” balances the album’s predilection for propulsive rage with its quieter, piano-driven exploration of what it means to have someone to lean on.
“This record is more sincere,” Allman says. “It’s got a sound more reminiscent of the first record. Lyrically, it completely engulfs you and makes you feel safe but it’s all about feeling alone and empty and knowing there’s always a light. If you’re frustrated that much it means you care that much. The lyrics carry you through the record and you’re right with Bert and where he’s at. The music isn’t showing off. It’s just being what it is. I think the fans will appreciate all that.”
“This record is about coming together,” McCracken adds. “Whether it’s through positivity or negativity, it’s about coming together through anything.”
Artwork encapsulates the past eight years of this hard-touring band, which has made the rounds of Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Projekt Revolution, Give It a Name, Reading, Leeds, and Taste of Chaos. The Used have sold more than two million albums in the U.S. Their previous release, 2007’s Lies For the Liars, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200.

Taylor Guitars Readies the Release of New Nylon-String Model
Building upon the success of the company's Nylon Series (NS) guitars, Taylor Guitars is set to release a new nylon-string model which embodies all that classical and steel string players alike have come to love about Taylor's NS line. From exceptional classical tone, to Taylor's slim and fast ultra-playable neck, the new NS24 offers players the familiar feel and sound of a Taylor NS, all at an affordable price.
The NS24 features a Grand Auditorium (GA) body shape crafted from satin-finished Indian rosewood laminate back and sides, a solid Sitka spruce top, and a mahogany neck. The slotted peghead is overlaid with Indian rosewood, with a soundhole rosette that features a hand-inlaid geometrical pattern of Mexican cyprus and Myrtle wood. The new nylon-string delivers signature Taylor playability with the company's patented NT® neck and is appointed with stylish yet understated classical chrome tuners with cream buttons. On the inside, Taylor's classical-style fan bracing produces a clear, bright sound, with strong treble notes and impressive sustain.
The model is offered in two styles: as a non-cutaway/electric in the NS24e, a first for the company, or as a cutaway/electric in the NS24ce. MYSPACE MUSIC ANNOUNCES ALL TIME LOW TO PERFORM THREE SECRET SHOWS IN ONE DAY
MySpace Music is excited to announce an unprecedented set of upcoming Secret Shows featuring the pop-punk quartet All Time Low. The band will be performing shows in Washington DC, Chicago, IL, and Orange County, CA, all on Tuesday, July 7. The ambitious, cross-country excursion will begin at Midnight and is set to culminate in an evening show scheduled at Anaheim’s Chain Reaction. The Secret Show performances will be held exclusively for MySpace users who were recently notified via MySpace Music’s Secret Show profile (http://www.myspace.com/secretshows).
Three Secret Shows in one day is a venture MySpace Music has never attempted in its over three-year history, and it’s only fitting they have chosen All Time Low as the first band to carry out such a feat due to group’s overwhelming popularity within the online music community site.
“Pulling off three shows in 24 hours with an indie band like All Time Low is a testament to the strength of the music community on MySpace Music,” explains Isac Walter, MSM Music Editor and Creator of the Secret Show Franchise. “All you need is a rabid fan base in each city and the platform to support it.”
The band’s performance and trek across the nation will be filmed for a special episode of the MySpace Music Feed, a news show that will air the episode on Monday, July 20th.
"This is going to be a crazy adventure! We have wanted to do a MySpace Secret Show for a long time, and to be able to do the first ever one to span three times zones in just 24 hours is incredible,” says Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low. “We have never played three shows in one day and the fact that they span the distance of the continent makes it all that much more fun. If you see us running through the airport to catch our next plane, please wave hello." Along the way, All Time Low, Hopeless Records and Ford Fiesta are teaming up to give fans an exclusive window into their three-show adventure with the band. Fans who are looking to join the adventure can visit http://www.fiestamovement.com on July 7 to be apart of the fun with the band. The collaboration between Hopeless Records and Ford Fiesta was engineered by Viva la Rock; a Los Angeles based creative resource agency regarded for their work in activating highly successful partnerships between globally relevant brands and leaders of the music and entertainment community.
"This is a great partnership because, like All Time Low, the Ford Fiesta and the Fiesta Movement are gaining tremendous popularity that stems from a strong online presence," said Connie Fontaine, Ford's Brand Content and Alliance Manager. "We're excited to be involved in such a unique experience and to reach consumers that may not yet have heard about the Fiesta."
The press reaction to All Time Low thus far in their career has been fantastic. Their debut full-length, "So Wrong, It's Right" landed them a spot in Alternative Press' list of "100 Bands You Need To Know" in 2008, and they were named "Band of the Year" by the magazine in 2009 while making their second appearance on the cover. Absolute Punk, who proclaimed that All Time Low was "your new favorite pop-punk band," also praised the album, which has scanned over 180,000 copies since its release.
In addition to their forthcoming album, "Nothing Personal," and scheduled MySpace Secret Shows, All Time Low is confirmed to perform on the Main Stage of this summer’s Vans Warped Tour on a string of dates. Having just recently finished a tour with Fall Out Boy, All Time Low will be jumping on Warped Tour in Oceanport, NJ, and staying on it until the end in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to these dates, they will do a short headlining tour with We The Kings and Cartel, hitting several cities on the east coast.
Also, All Time Low's video for the song "Weightless" is debuting today exclusively on MTV. The video features cameos from Mark Hoppus (Blink 182) and Pete Wentz (fall out boy). You can see the video here: http://www.mtvmusic.com/all_time_low/videos/391608/weightless.jhtml

Chicago Rockers Release First Single In Three Years With More To Come
HEAVY CROWN is the powerful new disc from LOVEHAMMERS, one of Chicago's long-standing leading rock bands. The fifth full length from the band--Marty Casey (vocals), Billy Sawilchik (guitar), Dino Kourelis (bass), Bobby Kourelis (drums)--was self produced with additional production by heavy-hitting producer Marti Frederickson (Aerosmith, Buckcherry, Pink, Faith Hill, Papa Roach) and restores faith that anthemic and heartfelt rock and roll can still thrive. Set for release July 21, the album includes 11 new and reworked studio tracks including thought-provoking, hook-injected airwave contenders and two bonus live versions of classic LOVEHAMMERS songs, "Eyes Can't See" and "Velvet." The first single "GUNS" which is a homage to our fallen soldiers is currently available on iTunes.
With a back catalog of four albums and three EPs and friendships that date back to their Hickory Hills Little League days, the band's chemistry can't help but be special. It's that chemistry that brought the guys together to create REEP Records, the label that will release HEAVY CROWN to the masses, with distribution through Fontana/INgrooves. "LOVEHAMMERS has been known to think outside the box and the release of HEAVY CROWN is no exception," says bassist Dino. He continues, "REEP--which stands for Record Executives Everyday People--will make decisions regarding singles, videos, touring, etc based on feedback from the real music experts--the fans."
LOVEHAMMERS' renewed D.I.Y. attitude comes as the direct result of the band surviving the blessings and curses that came their way when vocalist Marty Casey became a household name, earning the adoration of millions of television viewers as the runner-up on the 2005 reality series "Rockstar INXS." The band was forced to alter their title to put Marty's name in front for their lone Epic Records release. Now the foursome has come full circle by returning to the LOVEHAMMERS moniker. "We have control again and feel comfortable returning to our original name," says the frontman.
The new disc was originally planned as a remix album, with the band re-releasing some of its signature songs on its own terms. While in the studio, the album quickly turned into the band's first new studio disc in three years. HEAVY CROWN kicks off with the band's explosive opening salvo "Guns." The track is an ode to the servicemen and women who have given their lives while protecting our country. The chorus--"Let's pray for all those sweet lives/That die with a gun in their hands/Let's pray for all those sweet lives/That fight for our lives till the end"--reemphasizes the band's dedication to honoring these men and women. Previously, the band created the "Shoebox of Love" campaign which encouraged fans to donate care packages to those fighting abroad. To date, over 1000 packages have been sent and the band is working on their "Shoeboxes @ Home" campaign to support veterans.
"Heavy Crown is LOVEHAMMERS firing on all cylinders," says Dino. Other standout tracks on the album include "Your Time, My Time," "Neverfall," "Oh My Baby," the uplifting title track, the in-your-face "Black Angel (Not Gonna Be The One)" and "Driving Blind," with its soaring chorus and strings performed by the Chicago Junior Symphony Orchestra. Marty hopes that each song finds a home: "I want 'Your Time, My Time' blasting at a summer barbecue." As for the highly personal "Oh My Baby," Marty says that: "When you write the goodbye letter and watch someone you love walk off into the sunset, you don't really want to mail it. You'd rather burn it."
The band will head out on a mini-tour of the Midwest this summer as well as a special, one-off east coast show at New York's Gramercy Theatre on Friday, July 24. For the latest news on LOVEHAMMERS and their most recent tour dates, check out:

Yamaha Corporation of America and Yamaha Cares recently donated musical instruments valued at nearly $21,000 as part of Al Roker’s annual Lend a Hand road trip on NBC’s The Today Show. The company donated eight YPG635 digital pianos with benches, an assortment of violas and violins and two POCKETRAK portable digital recorders to the Community School of the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Yamaha Keyboard Division District Manager Chris Gilbert and Band & Orchestral Division District Manager Travis Goodwin joined Al Roker in an exciting segment where the school was surprised by a Penske truck full of donated products from Yamaha and other donors. Gilbert and Goodwin joined other volunteers in distributing musical instruments and other goods to thrilled faculty and students.
Given the state of the economy, many Americans are in need of a little help this year. That’s why Today’s Al Roker once again packed up the Penske truck to hit the road for the annual Lend a Hand trip. In its eighth consecutive year, Lend a Hand continues its mission of helping small charities across the country that work toward improving conditions in their communities. Roker’s 2009 goodwill road trip also included stops in Los Angeles, CA, Portland, OR, Galveston, TX and Little Rock, AR.
“With so many communities in need of arts education support and funding, Yamaha was thrilled to take part in this wonderful project,” said Carol Baker, Vice President of Human Resources, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Yamaha has a rich heritage of community outreach and this project underscores our commitment to supporting music education at all levels.”
Baker also oversees Yamaha Cares, an employee-based initiative dedicated to charitable works to promote education, arts, health and human services and community development in the areas where its employees live and work, as well as to spread the gift of music to people throughout the U.S.

This Day In Rock,
This Day In Rock
Hello friends Welcome to this Friday July 3rd edition of This Day In Rock. Tomorrow is Independence Day. so I went to the Us Census Bureau to get some facts. I found their site to be quite informative. There were a couple facts that stood out so I decided to share them! I found it quite humorous that the Two Main things we celebrate our Independence with are mostly IMPORTED from China! Those are United States Flags and Fireworks. Again this is from the Census Bureau;
~ In 2007, the dollar value of U.S. imports of American flags was $4.7 million. The vast majority of this amount ($4.3 million) was for U.S. flags made in China.
~ The value of fireworks imported from China in 2007 was $207 million dollars.
Now that we have done our fun facts lets take that daily stroll down musical memory lane!
The Ballad of John and Yoko" by the Beatles hits #8 on the US singles chart in 1960 despite being banned by many radio stations.
I am Going to stick one July 4th Fact in here! On this day in 1970 Jimi Hendrix played his famous rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner at The 3-day Atlanta Pop Festival in Byron, Georgia.
In 1974 Chuck Negron one of the singers of Three Dog Night was arrested for cocaine possession in his hotel room.
In 1977 a Country cross-over hit called "Heard It In a Love Song" by the Marshall Tucker band Goes to #14 on the charts.
At Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships during a rain delay, Cliff Richard launches into a seemly spontaneous concert, where he lead spectators through some of his old hits. It was later learned that Sir Cliff had planned the moment as a publicity stunt. These days people would know Right away!
Friends, That's all for today. Please have a safe Independence Day! Most importantly if you drink alcohol of any amount PLEASE DON"T DRIVE!!!
Until Monday.......
PEACE!!!!!!!!
This Day In Rock,

US consumer advocate Ralph Nader issued a warning that loud Rock music threatened to produce a nation of hearing-impaired people in 1969. Wow I hate to hear what he'd say now days!
In 1976 in Anaheim California Brian Wilson appeared with the Beach Boys for the first time in twelve years.
In 1977 The #1 spot on the chart was from a movie. The Song was called"Gonna FlyNow" from the movie Rocky.
On this day in 1988 Michael Jackson 's "Dirty Diana" Went to#1 , making him the first artist to have five number one singles from the same album.
Yoko Ono Was in attendance in 2001 when Liverpool named it's airport after John Lennon.

Twin Atlantic Release "Lightspeed" as Free Download!
Scottish rock band Twin Atlantic release opening track "Lightspeed" from their John Travis (Sugar Ray, Kid Rock and Static X) produced forthcoming mini-album, Vivarium, starting Monday, June 29th. The track is available for free download exclusively at www.TwinAtlantic.com for a limited time only.
As frontman Sam McTrusty explains, “We’ve been away for a little while recording Vivarium, so we wanted to give something back to our fan base as a thank you for their patience and continued support.”
As an added bonus, the band will be giving away an acoustic version of "Lightspeed" to those who twitter about it. Fans will be able to download the bonus track in exchange for one tweet via a turnkey interface on www.TwinAtlantic.com.
A corresponding video, shot in the Salton Sea in the desert, can also be seen by visiting www.TwinAtlantic.com or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3njDN2UpRfY .
"Lightspeed" follows Twin Atlantic’s critically acclaimed single, "What is Light? Where is Laughter?" (September 2008) and their self-released EP A Guidance from Colour (March 2008). The band has built a supportive following throughout the UK from touring with bands such as Circa Survive, The Subways and Biffy Clyro in addition to opening slots alongside The Smashing Pumpkins and Thrice. During their March ’09 headlining tour they sold out the 1,000 capacity QMU venue in their hometown of Glasgow.
Fresh from their appearance at Donington’s Download Festival, and with further festival performances already confirmed at Guilfest, T In The Park and Sonisphere, as well as a soon to be announced headlining jaunt, the run up to Vivarium, like the record itself - is looking very healthy.
The Vivarium mini-album and preceding single "You’re Turning Into John Wayne" will both be released this fall.

Living With Lions On Tour With The Swellers
Vancouver punks Living With Lions (www.myspace.com/livingwithlions) are heading out on a U.S. tour with Flint, MI’s The Swellers starting June 26 in Portland, OR.
The band’s new Adeline Records release Make Your Mark hits stores July 21.
Graduates (or survivors) of their infamous Dude Manor party headquarters in Vancouver, a place with a reputation for decadent, ruckus parties that led to numerous noise complaints to police by hapless neighbors, the band is best known for cranking out passionate, anthem-friendly punk rock fueled by grit and ridiculously catchy melodies.
Influenced by like-minded acts such as Lifetime, Hot Water Music, and A Wilhelm Scream to name a few, Living With Lions delivers unrelenting music while wholeheartedly embracing the raucous attitude and communal spirit of punk rock. Produced and mixed by Jesse Smith and Jason Bone (Cauterize, Sydney, Organ Thieves), the band has built a solid foundation throughout Canada and are now primed to make their mark on the rest of the continent.
Some fun facts about Living With Lions...the band had one last, wall-breaking party at Dude Manor that saw the end of a brief era; guitarist Chase Brenneman thought he was getting a call from creditors tracking him down when Adeline Records called offering them a deal…

BUCKCHERRY SCORES #1 MOST ADDED TRACK AT ACTIVE ROCK
Eleven Seven Music has announced that BUCKCHERRY, dubbed “the next great American rock band” will now be distributed through EMI Music domestically and internationally through The Eleven Seven Music Group’s new global deal. Eleven Seven Music was sole home to the band leading into their hit “Crazy Bitch” which, along with their smash hit “Sorry” spurred their album 15 to sell over a million copies. Following a brief upstream deal, the band returns wholly to the Rock Label of The Year (2008, FMQB) and #1 Independent Rock Label (2008, Mediabase) with an enhanced version of their current CD, Black Butterfly which Entertainment Weekly called Album of the Year and iTunes critics picked as Best Rock Album. This release includes a new track, “Highway Star,” the TNT NASCAR theme, added to Black Butterfly beginning on Tuesday, June 30 on iTunes and other digital service providers. This week also sees the band’s latest single, “Talk To Me” grab the position of #1 most added at active rock radio immediately following its release.
The band will be performing their version of “Highway Star” and “Talk To Me” on the infield at the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona on July 4th (6:30 pm ET on TNT) in conjunction with their promotional partnership with Turner Sports’ NASCAR programming. Turner Sports’ previous musical pairings include The Rolling Stones (NASCAR), Hinder (NASCAR), Bon Jovi (MLB), and many others.
This fall, Buckcherry joins KISS on their fall tour which is being routed through www.eventful.com/KISS , allowing fans to vote at the website through June 30th to “demand” what cities they want to see the tour hit. More than 8,000 cities and towns are already represented on the fan-submitted list.
“As an artist, there’s nothing better than knowing that our record label is as invested in our success as Eleven Seven is. Eleven Seven Music has proven itself and now joining forces with EMI Distribution, the band couldn’t be happier,” said Buckcherry’s Josh Todd.
Allen Kovac, Founder and CEO of The Eleven Seven Music Group notes, “Our formula is to time our records for a career, activating the fan base directly and allowing the content to find its audience over a period of time. It was two years between “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry” and we kept working, the band kept working and we had a hit. Julie Greenwald and her team are amazing, dedicated professionals and we appreciate all that they contributed to this band. We look forward to all of the possibilities we have in front of us with our new global distribution partner EMI Music.”
Black Butterfly debuted at #8 on the Top 200 chart as the highest debuting rock album and has produced four multi-format hits including the latest rock track, “Talk To Me.” Buckcherry scored its first Top 10 single, “Sorry,” on the Hot 100 Billboard Chart in 2008, and in its 12-year career been best known for writing and performing anthemic rock songs.
